burn, telkom, burn!!!
Personally I feel that anyone that gave in and became a telkom customer should not throw stones. You made your choice, and there are a lot of alternatives. Fixed line is over rated and if the costs are too high elsewhere, just download less.
I am proud to say that I have never been and will never be a telkom customer. So what if my data goes over telkom networks in the end, at least I am not a customer.

So you have never made a call to a land line or an international call? amazing.
There are always alternatives and wireless, be it mobile or fixed, are very good. I know, I have used them. If they do not work for you then you should take a good hard look at your downloads. Do you really need all those series and pornos ?In many instances there are no other alternatives. Don't let wireless monging cloud your judgment.
Maybe when the charity fund is looking good again, MyBB should send Rouxenator and johandutoit2000 on the required Comptia courses to educate them on the limitations of wired and wireless technologies![]()

Who "needs" series and pornos (well maybe sex addicts)? That really isn't the point. There are many other reasons one could be using large amounts of data; video-conferencing, video sites such as YouTube, VoIP, browsing sites that require a lot of data.
That is the point of "broadband". Broadband isn't just there to speed up the downloading of your email. It has redefined the way the internet works and more and more sites are taking it for granted that visitors have access to a high speed connection.
And I have tried mobile alternatives. The results have been less than stellar. One moment you’re speeding along like the internet was parked on a server in the next room and the next moment it feels as is someone just stepped the hose. The data flow slows to a dribble.
While Telkom's ADSL offerings are not the fastest, they are, at least for me, relatively stable.
I have, as I said, I may have data going over their network, but I am not a customer and I never will be. I cannot violate my morals in that way. Becoming a customer of theirs is a no-no, I'd rather use smoke signals if that is all alternative.

Fixed lines are really so last century. So is telkom. And if you have a telkom line, well then, so are you.
I manage quite nicely doing all those at 2mbit/s and I pay below R500 each month. That is using a fixed wireless provider. Before that on 3G I kept below 2gb per month and it was still cheaper than getting fixed lines.Who "needs" series and pornos (well maybe sex addicts)? That really isn't the point. My ISP is more stable than Telkom ADSL and it is a fixed wireless provide. Sure at 9c per MB it is not the cheapest, but I still have moral values and they do not allow me to become a customer of Telkom. Thats just wrong. And I have tried mobile alternatives. Hahahaha, i wish i could as well. A 2 minute call from Scotland to south Africa cost me R42,58 thnx to telkom. (and it was in off peak times)
