Hi

Maybe someone can help here.

I cannot change my DNS settings on my router.
Every time I change them as a static DNS on saving the settings they are either blank or changed to another DNS after the reset?

Is this telkom causing this? My router is a netgear n300 not purchased or supplied by telkom.

The DNS address's are working as I have applied them to various items and it works successfully.

Should I change to a different ISP?

This is driving me mad!

Thanks for any help

Marcus

There's usually an "apply" then a "save" button. Make sure you do both else it won't save the settings to your router.

Why do you want to change it? I'm asking because on a PC you can specify which DNS you want it to use.

Hi
Quick replies, thanks.
On the apply click, the DNS is either blank or incorrect, same happens on save.

Yes I have changed the DNS on my pc, laptop and Ipad. My roku which I just bought DNS can only be changed at router level. I did post my problem in the multimedia forum but I'm thinking it could be an issue on telkom.

I don't have that issue and I am with Telkom so I doubt it that it is a problem from their side

I guess I'm clutching at straws, I'm just totally confused!
Is it against telkom policy to change the DNS. If not would a phone call to tech support help?

I think it is more likely your router doubt it is Telkom, can't you borrow another router and try it on that.

Oh.

Only bought it weekend just gone, due to the old one going bad.

I don't think any ISP can change settings on your router. I also have the netgear modem from Telkom and have my own DNS entry as well. No problem. Although I don't use Telkom as ISP.

That looks more like a problem with your modem not saving the settings. Get a test account with a different ISP or use the Telkom guest details. Enter that and the DNS settings and save. After reboot check if the new ISP details are there.
