Didn't they also bump up the upload speeds last year for free?
Yeah. The 384 is killing me. Just downloaded a 2.5 gig file. Took like 20 hours...and then the hash didn't check out. *Cries*

I think there are a couple of facts that need to be considered before posting in a thread about the trials:
Nick
yeah but seriously everyone should just expect a million more complaints like people being capped in 3 days if we all got 4MBPS. just think how quick you would chow a 3gb or 5gb cap with that?
384 is not that bad.....il never go back to dial up but i could easily live with 384 for another year or so.i just dont get the point of being able to drive my ferrari around (4mbps) with 5 litres of petrol (5gb) ?
Why are you complaning about your cap in a thread about DSL Speed? Sure the two are related, but you are insinuating that you will now use your cap quicker with 4mb than with 384. How "quick" you use your cap is up to you, and how heavy you use the internet, not how fast your linespeed is.
Frankly I'd rather have a 10mb DSL with 1mb upload speed, with 10gb cap, which I can use moderately, than a 1mb down, 512k up line with 10gb gap. When I need the speed, atleast I have the CHOICE to use it or not.
384k is NOT broadband, it's narrowband, and more importantly it's a JOKE.
2mb and up can be considered "broadband" not these offerings Telkom offer us. I'm all for faster line speeds, but in the same breath I hope Telkom also upgrades the QUALITY of the network that carries our bandwith.
Cancel the ISP portion, keep the line and sign up with another ISP.

That 10/20/30G "free" local is a great thing from telkom. At least from my pov

Yes, this is it. It was originally due for rollout in October last year, but was delayed due to problems with the interfaces in some of the exchanges. I mentioned that in several other threads.
Yes, I do all my downloading at varsity as well... Even torrents fly
Btw, you can get OpenSuse locally from http://mirror.ac.za, unless it is faster from Italy![]()
