Telkom fixed lines drop by 110 000

What a surprise... and it's set to drop even more since they are increasing line rentals again like the greedy scum-bags that they are...

Good news in a twisted way

I sincerely hope that Neotel will have their act together when they launch in CT.
All I need is Ethernet and to be able to make a call and be on the net at the same time.
Not too much to be asked...

When do they plan to launch in CPT and DBN, its been 2 months since they launched in JHB

Who knows - likely on their 100 day calendar... they can't keep up with any of their promises. Soft launch or not, they indicated a month after JHB they'd be in CT - thus far, its looking dismal IMO.

Telkom want to chase away more customers with a new round of price increases :D.

They lost the plot a long time ago and the cracks are starting to show. Those greedy fat cats can watch gold turn into dust and there's not a thing they can do about it.

RIP Telkom

And Telkom respond by raising prices. It is so typical of their attitude. They have the choice to drop prices, improve service levels and sign up many more people for fixed line services. This will make them more money in the long run. Or they could just take the short term approach and increase prices to make more money. Screw the fact that they will have fewer fixed lines next year - they will just increase the prices again...

looks like telkom wants to go out of business

This would also make them a company of choice--where people would flock to. But, alas, I agree they just have no idea.

Converted my line to prepaid about 3 months ago. Melkhom can go to hell. Neotel must sort themselves out now.

I must admit, Neotel is doing a great job. Look at your statement, is that really all you need?

They got us to the point where we don't make statement like "All I need is a 5gig connection for R199pm" or something like that.

"All I need is an Ethernet device that can make friggen phone calls without dropping my connection, I will keep paying ripoff prices for pathetic usage limits..." :D

Subscribers down 2%, subscription fees up by 10%... Oh look, more profits... I pity those last 10 customers one day.

Die Telkom, die.

Probably the main reason why we pay such a high rental in this country is that there is no growth in the fixed line market any more and I don't envisage this situation to change with Cell Phones being far simpler and easier. Someone must pay for the loss in earnings.

That being said I doubt I will give up my Telkom phone any time soon. For one my business needs it.

Yep, every time something bad happens to Telkom people seem happy.
Unfortunately it alway results in us getting worse service and paying more.

Next year they'll increase their prices once more as the shareholders aren't too happy with the performance of their shares...

Another example of bad management.

As soon as Neotel launches WiMAX, Telkom loses another customer.
