Telkom integrated data wallet launched

We need more detailed info on this.

Can definitely see myself moving to something like this.

Concurrent connections would be a game changer. Essentially my entire immediate family could share a 2-3GB per month account.

1GB of 3G/LTE data currently goes for R99. Compare that to 10GB ADSL data for the same price and it doesn't seem that bad.

Yip, if you more of a mobile user its worth it.. if u more of a fixed line user its pricey.

Has to be a catch!

Simple.. u will be using Telkom Mobile for Voice.. its a bit of cross selling in the hopes that they can recoup on add-on or additional services.

Going to be a while before we get clarity, just tried 10210 and the lady didn't have an idea

Does Telkom sell stand-alone ADSL ISP accounts?

EDIT: Seems they do. Falls under "Standalone Internet Usage" in their online shop:
10 GB SoftCap at R99.00 per month
100 GB SoftCap at R525.00 per month
20 GB SoftCap at R149.00 per month
200 GB SoftCap at R995.00 per month
300 GB SoftCap at R1495.00 per month
50 GB SoftCap at R269.00 per month
500 GB SoftCap at R2495.00 per month

100GB LTE for R525? I'd be down with that!

Awesome!! Count me in,looks like I'm about to throw my Cell C sim away, been slowly migrating my comm. spend to Telkom and now this...Wow! Can't wait for the details and T&C's.

Where's that prediction thread?

I sense plenty of anger and frustration once the details become known in the very near future.

What bait? It's a softcap so month to month no contract. If it doesn't work just cancel it.

Wonderful concept, but it just seems too good to be true. Maybe the catch is that the virtual "wallet" will cost extra? Time for Telkom to end the speculation by providing us with more details.

Too much guessing here. The article was a bit premature IMO. Details needed before we can comment properly...

I just don't see how they would be able to offer "byte for byte". It would cannabilise their LTE / Telkom Mobile data bundles and offerings...

That's my thinking as well. It would essentially kill their "mobile data" business.

Economies of scales is great and everything, but there's a massive cost difference between 1GB of mobile data and 1GB of ADSL data.

Do you have the details of this new development?

Just read the text - "an enhancement to the Telkom Internet Softcap product which enables a subscriber to use SoftCap data on mobile, ADSL, VDSL, and FTTH connections."

So that looks like they just adding this feature to SoftCap, which is currently just a normal month to month ADSL account.

The thing is why even mention the byte ratio if it's 1 to 1. My guess is it'll be a different number once things are cleared up.
