Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Now I'm really mad - as a long standing 10Mbps uncapped user I'm rewarded by being charged R389/mth more than the "bundle" price

I suspect they'll drop prices soon... hence they tried to get new customers locked in on 2 year deals...

May be wishful thinking, but since they do have to try reach broadband target set by the gov they'll have to raise min speeds...

Exactly why I went for the deal... on a M2M as I'm paranoid of contracts with the internet :crylaugh: so if a better deal comes around I can change just can't downgrade...
If telkom states the R799 10mb deal will not increase in price during the future , I honestly won't mind joining a contract!
Btw how many months have you been using this deal ?

I'd make sure that you can change packages if a cheap one arrives, maybe ask them what they say is a downgrade, as I understand it's a lower speed... as they say you can't downgrade for 2 years.

With the exception of special promotions (such as this one), contract customers normally receive the benefit of price reductions. Telkom consumer normally doesn't use contracts to lock customers into old pricing, but only to recover up-front costs (e.g. device or free installation).

For example, as far as I know, every free upgrade (e.g. 2 Mbps line plus 2Mbps uncapped account upgraded for free to 4Mbps line and 4Mbps uncapped account) was given to all customers regardless of contract or not etc.

Can someone explain the new system to me? I don't think I should reach FUP 1 at only 7 gigs
See post a few posts back. The bugfix for not removing fup status correctly on rollover/at month end wasn't deployed to production as requested.

The same fix to the affected accounts (e.g. extra 6 free priority passes) will probably be run tomorrow as was done last month.

And then hopefully the bugfix will be deployed to production this month so ut doesn't happen again.

Can you shed some light , how long will this promotion be on for this 10mb line for R799 for month to month users ?
If I do change my 4mb month to month method to the R799 contract , is there a possibility to downgrade to a lower speed during the contract? In case my line isn't fit to run 10mb constantly

Unfortunately not. Our systems aren't impacted by pricing-related changes and promotions, so I don't know the details.

The statements above are based mainly on my own experience with my own line and past press releases (and some informal discussions with people who make some of these decisions).

Okay thanks , I think I'll ride this promotion as long as it last.
Once it goes back to normal pricing I'll drop back down to 4mb.

Fair enough, I don't recall that far back. Would have been nice if the higher ups did the promo on a permanent basis...

New telkom uncapped user

Hi All

I have recently installed a telkom 2Mb/s line and was just wondering if someone could help shed some light for me on what i have experiance. i never get a download speed more than 0.23Mb/s (230 kb/s) i have not reached FUP. Also what is the Priority pass? i had 2 and accidently activated 1 while at work (unable to see what it does) it lasts for 1 hour? and do they replenish them after time and if yes how long ?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and any help is much appreciated.

regards
Selwyn Landman
