Another bonus is that TI will move my integrated data sim to the softcap account which means I can use all 100GB on it if required as opposed to the 5GB limit on 10Mbps uncapped.

Did this work (with your existing SIM still working)?

It's supposed to, but this is about the most fragile product we have, and I have heard of problems.

(And I am also considering switching toa capped account)

Please be aware that the actual 'integrated data service' (which only relates to tje behaviour you get on a Softcap account) free promotion may change in future (at least 3 months away, maybe more).

Hi ranger, I'm still on the uncapped account atm posting this from my normal DSL account and performing a linux update on a laptop with the sim in a Telkom DWR-730.

The move to softcap is presumably scheduled for February when hopefully they'll SMS my new login details.

If you end up with a new username I expect your current SIM won't work without some manual intervention from the ISP operations team (the Mobile service you should see at present on your active account in the 'My Profile' section of the customer portal might no longer be there.

@ranger any feedback on that routing issue yet?
Probably not until Monday, due to the new 'company shutdown' policy which forces everyone to take leave from Christmas until the end of the first week of January, except for skeleton staff that must be motivated for by executive or higher.

Is it possible my username can stay the same?

It would certainly simplify the account change and obviate the need to bill the existing mailbox attached to the uncapped account separately (I don't want to lose it). I did mention this to the lass in billing and she assured me that everything was sorted, as I say, she sounded very competent.

Erm, seems the lass is as good as her word - I logged into the portal and the change has already been effected!

Guess there's going to be a lot of pro-rata line items on my next account :p

Problem logging in to www.telkom.za

Failure of server APACHE bridge:

No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent.

I've tried multiple browsers and cleared browser cache.

/edit I cleared cache again which fixed the problem

I went to the store to confirm the promo deal , they guy reckon this deal will continue for month to month users so it's not necessary to sign a contract , BTW thanks for the reply!

I got very high packet loss on TI today (~40% in CS GO), both while playing CS GO and spectating a Dota 2 Tournament in the client. Similarly, Twitch regularly buffered when normally it can handle the quality setting fine. I switched to my backup account and the issues disappeared immediately.

While playing CS some other players were also complaining of packet loss (presumably they are also using TI).

Routing in general seems a bit off at the moment with some hops showing higher than expected latency and others are fine (I think it mostly affects hosts residing in CPT):
