Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

My Telkom 4meg had been working fine for a long time.
But on Saturday 17th it dropped its speed really bad.
Speedtest used to be 3.5mbit range and now it's at 0.36mbit range.
This is not port shaping but a straight up across the board throttle.

When I test with my FNB 1GB backup account all is good so it's not the line.
Also, a weird thing about speed test is that it goes to JHB instead of Durban and it's says Hosted by Vodacom rather than Telkom.
I can't post the speedtest.net link as it still hasn't finished running. It's stuck before testing upload speed.

I dread the phone call I need to make to Telkom now.

That's from my 4mb Connection account on a 4mb line at 7 this morning.

Telkom 4mb account still going at 0.2kb/s.

I know Mickey but during the course of the day (whilst on 3 stars) I get +-300kb/s on p2p which I can't get close to on my TI account.
Between 11pm and 7am my 4Mbps line maxes out!! Strangely enough yesterday (during the day) it was almost maxing out as well. I had to restrict my DL's as I had to work!

Well you were always part of the elite that had no problems with TI in days gone by.

So this does not surprise me :p

Make sure you go through to Telkom Internet Service Provider and not to the ADSL section...

http://www.telkom.co.za/sites/contactus/ shows me only 10210. Chatted to someone and they did a port reset, even though I said the line is fine and it's the account that's the issue as my FNB 1GB backup one runs at full line speed. Now on hold for another person after the 1st one transferred me to a specialist.


Edit: Since the port reset I'm connecting to SAIX in Durban now.

All they can tell me is that I have been throttled and it wont be back to normal until the 1st of next month.
They can't tell me how the limit is calculated but all I can guess is that I must have breached a GB per day and week or something limit. And unless it's a fixed limit I wont be able to work it out.
I have never been throttled and been on Telkom 4mbit uncapped since September and was on 1mbit for over a year when it first came out.

Did you confirm that you are on a 4Mbps ISP profile?

I said it was 4mbit uncapped account. He didn't confirm or deny that.
I will phone again a bit later to check what "profile" I'm on to be sure it's 4mbit.

Remember there are 2 profiles: the ADSL network line speed and the Telkom Internet Service Provider 4Mbps uncapped product.

My line was also close to useless early this morning, didnt have time to investigate, so it seems TI are now throttling. I'm also on a 4mb uncapped profile. This is crazy!!!

Since last night at about midnight, my NZBs have been going at about 10 kilobytes per second.

On the router it says my line is syncing at 4mbit so that part is fine.
It's just the 4mbit uncapped account thats at fault. :(

On the router:

You know what I just realised....today is the 20th. Exact same thing happened month also on the 20th. My usage was MUCH higher last month at this point though. Seems Telkom is just shaping me for the hell of it.

Cannot Cannot Cannot wait to move on the 5th of June. In fact, my new ISP's account starts working from the 1st. And then we are supposed to feel sorry for the employees are are getting retrenched. What the hell do they expect when service is like this??

LOL, just checked my utilisation via the Telkom site. Green bar. Just past half way. And throttled to 10 kilobytes per second. What a joke! Retrench the whole lot LOL.
