Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

You know what I just realised....today is the 20th. Exact same thing happened month also on the 20th. My usage was MUCH higher last month at this point though. Seems Telkom is just shaping me for the hell of it.

Cannot Cannot Cannot wait to move on the 5th of June. In fact, my new ISP's account starts working from the 1st. And then we are supposed to feel sorry for the employees are are getting retrenched. What the hell do they expect when service is like this??

I just called Telkom, my account is throttled. From 1 May till last night I had done 292GB on a 4MB line - absolutely pathetic, at least with MWEB I think I can go to 400 before being throttled, seriously gonna sign up with them again :wtf: :wtf:

Pretty sure it's the premium offering:

No. 400GB is for their Premium package. 110GB is the limit on the standard 4Mb before throttling kicks in. MWEBGuy confirmed this with me. In all honesty, I'm looking at going back to MWEB. Telkom can do one, because they're definitely not "do broadband". Mugs.

***Edit*** The moment I put this up, speeds are back to normal after a miserable 2 days. Go figure.

Things are looking good so far today. Been able to stream Twitch at medium flawlessly, and torrents have been working again. I expect it to be terrible at 5pm again though.

Things are way slower now than earlier, however I have downloaded a great 12GB today, so I'm actually quite pleased

This message contains rants... read with caution.

I'm on 4mb uncapped but throttled to a 1mb line. I believe I'm a bandwidth abuser... I committed the cardinal sins of lavish, un-ashamed video streaming in HD, downloaded games, series, movies.... downloaded whatever I wanted without thinking twice...

I pay close around R800 a month for this privilege and now they have the audacity to limit the service they offer that is close to the most expensive in the world. I tell this to a friend in the USA and he almost falls off his chair laughing about what a bunch of money-hungry-loosers Telkom are.

Oh dear Telkom, in the future people are going to "use and abuse" your dinky toy network even more as the world wakes up to video streaming in HD and new technologies that will all demand huge amounts of bandwidth. What will you do then when you cannot cope with the demand? Ask people to use less bandwidth because you are too much of a bunch of loosers who extort money from people instead of providing them with value for money ?

When will you do something about your rotten, old, delapidated network and exchanges that is not properly maintained and constantly overloaded? ... but.. but.. "We have VDSL which makes us the pinacle of tech in SA" you would promote yourself with... Well having 5 customers with VDSL makes your claims look dubious at best.

Just want to add, we downgraded from 10Mbps uncapped to 2Mbps uncapped and besides the difference that took adjusting for me (after nearly 2 years), it has been great. Currently at this point i am watching a Twitch stream on High (BW dependant) and no buffering which is so cool. Am watching a X360 stream of W_D. I started before 7am so far so good.

Now i want confirmation E3 is going to be flawless aswell when we stream this early for the live streams and i will be super happy (minus any technical difficulties the streamers are gonna have due to traffic)

I see there are still tons of people on Ti with streaming/speed issues
I wish Ti could provide a more consistent product. Its cr@p because I can never recommend them as an ISP because of this.
Ti works great for me but not for some, including mates of mine.

I've been able to stream in the evenings with no problems what-so-ever.

Whatever Telkom has done in Cape Town has worked!
