Don't know if this have been discussed ,but I am currently on a 4mb uncapped line.
I usually received 25% discount on my bill ,but since the beginning of April Telkom decided to cancel this although I am on month 12 of a 24 month contract.
I lodged 2 disputes over this one for each month I did not receive any discount on the bundle.
Telkom just contacted me and informed me this discount was cancelled when the line speeds was automatically upgraded.
So no discount anymore at the end of the month it's back to 2 mb for me![]()
My internet's been completely unuseable for most of the day, with short periods of normalcy.

Anyone else experienced this? Hopefully this doesn't last all weekend.
Yes, Must be new shaping policy. unusable. Can not browse or check e-mails. Might as well not have it.
From testing on TI capped accounts softcapping has little impact on normal browsing activities but you can forget any type of downloading, can't comment on TI uncapped as I've never experienced softcapping on these. It's possible. When did it start for you? If it happened around the same time it might be a fault.
I'm in Ladysmith, on 2Mb, done about 141GB. Started yesterday around 3:30pm.

Telkom are pathetic, their infrastructure sucks and they monopolize the market. I guess I shouldn't be expecting much more in South Africa though should I !?!
Damn, I just checked my usage and it's pathetic. I'm already doing and getting everything I want, yet only use 40 to 100gb.You clearly have exceeded the bandwidth threshold. Move to a premium uncapped service if you are a high bandwidth user.

Perhaps I should download random stuff continuously and then join the whiners when I'm throttled. Just for fun.

Dear Sir / Madam
We confirm that you are currently a user of our uncapped service. Please note that all our uncapped products are subject to the Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") which is available to all users. You can also visit http://www.telkom.co.za/general/termsandconditions/index.html to access the AUP.
In terms of the Telkom Internet AUP, Telkom reserves the right to apply restrictions on an uncapped account if a customer's behaviour is determined to be affecting the user experience of other customers on Telkom's network. Examples of customer behaviour which may compromise Telkom's network performance include causing network congestion, running excessive concurrent internet sessions or accessing excessive bandwidth intensive protocols such as peer-to-peer.
Restrictions which may be applied by Telkom in terms of the Telkom Internet AUP include, but are not limited to, throttling a customer's throughput speeds to an appropriate proportion of the actual port speed and / or shaping a customer's bandwidth to limit the use of bandwidth intensive protocols and applications. In terms of the AUP, Telkom further reserves the right to suspend the relevant customer's usage within 24 hours of usage having reached dangerously high levels. Customers who are restricted by Telkom in the aforementioned manner in a calendar month will be returned to full service profile at the beginning of the next month. Telkom furthermore reserves the right to terminate the account of a customer whose usage is continuously affecting Telkom's network performance as a customer of Telkom Internet uncapped products.
In this regard, Telkom has provided you with information regarding your usage status gleaned from a usage tracker tool https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/.
This extensive usage negatively impacted the performance of our network and Telkom therefore had no option but to impose throttling measures as set out in the Telkom Internet AUP in order to ensure that other customers' experiences are not compromised.
Should you be of the opinion that your needs are not being met by your current uncapped product we suggest that you consider upgrading to a business offer that is designed for higher usage utilisation and priority on our network.
Kind regards
The Telkom Internet Team
You clearly have exceeded the bandwidth threshold. Move to a premium uncapped service if you are a high bandwidth user.

Let me translate the above:
We here at Telkom have a dinky toy network. We don't have good infrastructure to handle large downloaders. We simply don’t have enough for everybody. With our “don’t give a crap attitude” we simply get rid of those who use a lot. This way we don’t have to upgrade our capacity and infrastructure and we can happily keep on milking our fat-cash-cow-customers. (They are all ridiculously rich anyway.)
To tell you the truth, we mostly don’t upgrade anything and innovation is some foreign concept that we don’t understand or comprehend. That is actually why we only have 5 VDSL customers. Luckily the public are like dumb sheep and will never know this. It’s actually a relief that we have at least 5 VDSL customers because now we can promote ourselves offering this new unbelievable technology called VDSL. Aint we just great ey ? Actually our network will probably fall over if we have more than 5 VDSL customers because our dinky toy network will never be able to handle more than 5 VDSL customers but the public is too dumb to put two and two together. HA HA HA HA…. HAHAHAHA.. BWAHAHAHAHA….
We simply LOOOOVE pocketing your hard earned cash. The statistics and complicated graphs that they have in printed media and other media outlets are simply a lies. We hate these statistics because all fingers are pointing to us being mostly responsible for the most expensive Internet in the world here in SA. ALL BLATANT LIES I tell you!!! That is why we here at Telkom believe that the earth is actually flat instead of round.
