Telkom Internet Softcap Feedback

Hi DrJohnZoidberg,

Did you managed to resolve this issue. I have the same issue that started yesterday whereby my PSN downloads make use of my normal 50gb cap instead of the Do Gaming addon.

Can you point me in the right direction for assistance because I've tried the 10210 and they had no idea what I was talking about.
Nope. Have been given the silent treatment.

Yes I have noticed it too. I downloaded Call of Duty Advanced Warfare on my ps4 and it chowed 25GB of my cap with the do gaming addon active.

So something IS wrong and they need to FIX it soon.

@cavedog, back now to standard SNR so not gonna change it until get another device :-).

Took this morning and i have never seen such a low ping locally :wtf: for me personally.

Gaming to an EU server midnight was laggy but i believe that to have been the server as the game needs alot of fixing [ArcheAge]. Changing draw distance for items to load did go snappier than when i was on the uncapped package at 2Mbps. Overall pretty satisfied with Telkom's softcap performance. It has been long since i have opened sites so quickly.

Now for them to investigate that add-on bug and i will be staying with them :D.

Since getting this, the internet is more or less unusable outside night surfer time.

Have been using this service for the past two weeks. Was working okay (a few bumps along the way) and yesterday stopped working all together.

Had to phone Telkom and was reminded why I was reluctant to join them in the first place. 15 minutes before my call was answered (that's probably not a bad number). After that spending 40 minutes on the phone with the call agent only to be told that I will be phoned by someone else (that call never happened).

It's really a hit and miss experience with Telkom, sometimes the service is great (like when I signed up) and other times it's really bad.

Service is normally great with any business when signing up. ;)

There was authentication issues this am but when i connected earlier, it was working fine.

Can you guys confirm if the do addon is now working properly [okay, if it was am sure you guys would've reported it] now? :p Going to be downloading some content off PSN thanks to a friend sharing and want to do it during the day :).

My story just briefly with Telkom:

1) Phone to upgrade - Sorry sir, we cannot. Spoke to "Jane"
2) Phone to upgrade - Sure, give me a moment....call gets cut.
3) Phone to upgrade - Didn't i speak with you earlier..."Jane" puts the order through :D.

Sometimes i think the trouble [big or small] you go through with them is far better than others doing it on your behalf [most of the time] ;)

Last time I checked the DoGaming addon was still patchy. Battle.net downloads not working at all, and somebody reported that PSN downloads were also giving issues (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...p-Feedback?p=13985965&viewfull=1#post13985965).

I would tread carefully.

It's also impossible to get anyone to help with this, so you essentially just have to take what they give you.

Thanks @DrJohnZoidberg for the response. Will hold off until then. :) Will just schedule for night surfer hours until it gets resolved.

I sent this to Ranger as a PM but was wondering if anyone else have ever experienced a similar problem. I've also tried to log calls with Telkom Internet but so far haven't had any resolution.

Whenever my ADSL router reboots (power failure or manual) it sync's and authenticates, receives an IP and appears to be connected. However no Internet packets gets routed past the first Telkom Internet hop (I can ping the gateway but nothing else). If I connect to any other ISP (I have two other accounts that I can use for testing) it works 100%. Upon further investigation I've seen if it connects to 105.226.x then it doesn't work, but if it connects to 105.224.x then it works.

It's very weird and I dread when my router's power is interrupted (load shedding) as then I have to connect and disconnect until the IP is changed to the more favourable subnet.

Telkom has been okay so far when it works but it's really a problem when you get a weird problem like this as nobody at the call centre seems to be able to help with this kind of problem.

Any ideas what I can do?

Your help would be appreciated.

lekker -> PRODUCT: 50GB + 50GB (DOUBLE DATA SUMMER PROMO UNTIL 31 DEC 2014)

Indeed. I have my 50GB softcap account.

I'm still waiting for Telkom to offer me the Do Elite Plus bundle at the advertised price.

Have got myself a WA account in the meantime, if Telkom don't get back to me just going to move my line to WA. They can offer it for the price I want, just really don't want to move my line.

Have you tried just getting the deal? As I mentioned before you just need the 2 products on the invoice to have the Do discount applied.

Maybe that price is correct? I can't confirm since I can have 40Mbps but I can confirm that just having a 20Mbps line and 50GB softcap I get a Do Elite Bundle discount on the discount line of the invoice.

Maybe you must just get the 100GB softcap and see if the discount is being applied right? If not just pop into a store or on twitter and have the create a billing dispute. They usually credit accounts in 3 working days if you have a valid claim.

The only way to order it is to phone them and when phoning them they tell me the price is R979. There is no way around this it seems.

Maybe I should just move over to WA permanently already, my Telkom account been dodgy on Youtube for the past week and now it's totally fooked:

Yeah I did read in the Telkom Uncapped thread that there is some congestion on the CPT IPC and that more capacity is on it's way but ranger did do some changes.

I always get the feeling that ISP's only do upgrades when the IPC's gets congested. To me that is poor planning. You can't just wake up one morning and then a IPC is congested I'm sure you should see this coming...

I guess ISP's in SA runs their networks like Eskom runs the electricity. Constrained but enough for now.

Telkom Internet would be greater than Afrihost if Afrihost ends double adsl data promo end of Dec 14. Free Midnight surfer is just so much better than anything the other ISP's could have come up with thus far. This is a fact.
