So instead of throttling speeds to a constant ~100KB/s, they allow it to spike higher, but then throttle it to virtually 0 in between to compensate. I experience the same behaviour from another local FTP, just at a slightly lower speed.

Can't say that I've noticed this behaviour. I ran a test last night where I loaded up some large torrent files and used the 1Mb account from 18:30 to 06:45 this morning with the following results:

Code:
Blended Usage for November Blended Current Active Sessions
Uploaded data 2.1 GB
No Blended Active Sessions
Downloaded 5.0 GB
Combined Total 7.1 GB

Definitely not too shabby and, checking my IPCop traffic graphs, it ran flat out at 122 kBps for the entire 12hrs 15mins :)

But it's early days yet, only time will tell if Telkom uncapped performance goes the same way as all the other uncapped offerings.

Has anybody seen any additional time of day throttling as yet?

Do you have a line that syncs at a speed that is higher than 1Mbps? I'd assume that they use the same throttling policy everywhere.

Yes, 10Mb enabled exchange but I can only get 6Mb - still I'm not complaining :D

Are you getting a free router/modem (as I think you are)?
They should leave you with all the username/password info.
It will also give you step-by-step instructions to activate the service.
Yeah, they gave us a modem. What they didn't give us are the usernames and password.

Anybody know which of the trillion Telkom numbers I need to call to get that?

OK, I'm quite simply stunned with this
One of my torrents is going at 102 kb/s! And its been going at that rate (or just a bit slower) since about 4 when I started it. Granted its a well seeded torrent, but still I'd wager that this is unshaped...

Test it on Monday during office hours... you'll stay surprised!

My downloads haven't dropped below 100KB/s since opening the account. :D

well still early days but my Usenet downloads are going strong during business hours

Saix news server is pretty hopeless during office hours so switched to xsusenet .. bam ...100K+

Hope it stays this way :)

I would not mind switching if they had a 4Mb option available.

quick question ?

I thought this account allows 1 connection only.. but i dialed 2 out just to test...

So how many does it allow ?

Is anyone else getting disconnecting issues lately?

I'm being disconnected every 2-3 minutes and everything is incredibly slow (even local).

I cancelled my 3 month free Internet trial (when you got the 8gb and 20gb cap) at the end of October in order to start my 384kbps uncapped service. I'm pretty sure I'm not being throttled at all since I'm constantly downloading 40kb/s using torrents. HTTP downloads basically the same speed.

I'm quite happy although my bill is 4 digit numbers:twisted:had to pay one month in advance!

I'm looking to ditch M-Web and move over to Telkom's 4MBps uncapped offering. Whats the verdict? Am I making a mistake?

M-Web seems to have lost the plot a bit :(

been a bit slow since yesterday ... not sure whats going on

Same here, since yesterday on NNTP I was getting only about 2kb/s. After 12am last night it went full speed again and now this morning it's sitting at 0kb/s. Not looking good.

Please guys, stay away from Telkom uncapped - its terrible.

(here's hoping everyone listens so my account stays working at line speed)

Im getting full speed all hours with the 1Mbs uncapped account , managing about 6gigs a day
