I said gaming should have improved somewhat as of Friday afternoon. I didn't ever say Neflix was fine for everyone.

As of early this morning, BF4 should be a bit better. We were waiting for a fix from a vendor for that (specifically BF4, but may address some other games too, possibly Path of Exile, Diablo 3, possibly some general PSN problems), which was deployed early this morning.

Ranger, it's not just gaming that's is broken.

We want to know what is being done about the larger issue at hand here.

Come on man.

Completely dead for me in Cape Town.

Traceroute looks like this:

Tracing route to 196.25.1.1 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 1 ms 1 ms <1 ms 10.0.1.1
2 10.0.1.1 reports: Destination host unreachable.

And, according to my router, connection to Telkom is fine. And, been waiting on hold for 15 minutes to log a fault. The joys of Telkom internet... You can be assured however that I will be charged full price come billing time.

Crap service from call centre - can't even log a fault

Without more detail, doesn't seem to be a Telkom Internet problem ...

Call centre should have logged a fault of some kind somewhere for this.

We need more info here, Thursday the fix was 2-3 days away, its almost 6 days since then if you count the weekend. Whats the problem here, you're leaving us in the dark and its very frustrating. Do you guys have capacity issues?

Well, I can confirm that it did not help Diablo 3 or Path of Exile, League of Legends, WoW all of them are sitting at >600ms. If that helps with anything.........

I don't mean to be rude, and I'm sure you have a busy schedule, but taking the time to write out the changes Telkom Internet makes every hour or so on this thread (or your twitter), rather than every day or so and leaving us somewhat in the dark, would be a good idea to keep us from having a fanny wobble on this thread. I'm sure it would clean up about 90-95% of the posts' questions.
Also, if you posted real statistics or estimates would be great (stuff like the expected data rates, which websites won't work, what's being throttled, times when TI would be working on the problems, etc.). If scheduled maintenance times were posted somewhere, gamers would have a much better time. Rather than joining a game and lagging, and becoming frustrated, they could check the schedule and play before or after they are done.

On the line or the data or both?

I used to care who managed my line but now I don't. To be honest, I don't trust Telkom's billing department to get it right if I ask them to split it again. Twice now I've stopped receiving bills after cancelling a service. Then I receive two seperate bills - one addressed to some ridiculous street number like 34523 that doesn't exist.

That's very polite of you ;) I must admit, i've come to the conversation very late after weeks of issues. Is there any short version of what's broken (or perhaps the what's working list is shorter?)?

Ouch, some bad luck there bro. I've never had any billing issues, and choose to keep my line with telkom so I don't have to deal with a middle man if something goes wrong. I haven't asked for the 25% yet, actually, can't get through during this fiasco, but don't mind having a contract for the line only, coz I'm not going anywhere there. I will never sign a contract with an ISP tho, for exactly the reason that is happening now.

I've never used another ISP for my line either for the same reasons. The thing about the 25% and annual contract is that if you cancel after 3 months, it's no skin off your back, you don't lose anything. Even if you pay a tiny bit more to cancel sooner than that is nothing when compared with the alternative of putting up with this nonsense. You don't owe them the whole year's worth, only a fraction of the remainder needs to be paid.

In that case - 100% :)

It's Wednesday now. Dota2 is averaging 800ms, can't play Starcraft. International websites open so slow they might as well not.

Who is getting fired for this? Somebody better be losing there paycheck for this because this is piss poor service to say the least and it is costing me a portion of MY paycheck

Dont worry! Atleast you are safe with the knowledge that due to the fact that your line is still functional albeit sluggish, Telkom will not be approving your dispute that you have logged since the 6th of Jan.

Drink the kool aid you're fed on here by pseudo telkom representatives who deliver one empty promise after another, constantly shifting goal posts when the problem has not been rectified by the earlier deadline it stated.

One word.

I been at home all day (night shift) and I have had no issues.
Downloads running at line speed, torrents were fluctuating between 100 and 200k/s (25-50% line speed)
Tested Hulu and watched a few episodes of Sleepy Hollow on High without a stutter.

I dont know if things have been fixed but its 1000 times better this week than the last 2.

Whoever flicked whatever switch, THANK YOU.

@Ranger are the problems not localised to a region? I'm in Durban and its been going like the clappers over here!

Stupid question but how is your Netflix when run from a PC?
I use Firefox and the MediaHint plugin (sorts out the DNS issue) and Netflix was fine today.

EDIT: What region are you from?
