Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

Don't be vague when talking to them, get them to call up your detailed account and quote the line item name you want cancelled from your invoice copy (probably Do Uncapped Premium), emphasize that you don't want your line cancelled (I'm assuming DSL Faster in your case).

I'm not sure about this 30 day cancellation clause that people are talking about, it's always been cancelled when the call centre pushes the button in the past for me (dies on the spot) so you need to make provision for an alternate ISP in advance.

Best of luck with 10210 :)
Thx Mick.
As always you are the one with all the answers.
:)

Just waited 47 minutes for the helpdesk.
Explained that I want to cancel and waited about 3 minutes to be told that their system is offline and gave me an email address.
Back on the phone.
i will wait and repeat this until I'm gone from Telkom.

As predicted performance has returned to pre-weekend standards for me but I'm intrigued by the inactivity on the thread today - have things improved for the gamers & Netflix users?

It was going well all weekend till yesterday afternoon then everything went down hill. Switched to Afrihost and everything was perfect again.

Worked great through the whole marionette event, so I'm pleased. Might even be able to play WvW with my guild tonight without needing another account!

Was in WvW on AR BL Saturday till 22:00 - best it has been in over 6 weeks. If it stay like that I will try the marionette event later in the week.

So, I have a telkom 4MB uncapped account, and i am generally very happy.
however, when i try to stream a few channels from overseas i dont get a decent speed, last night the HD channel kept on buffering and when i checked the network traffic it did not go over 100kb.
I checked the same channel at work today and it peaked at 260kb with no buffering....are telkom shaping online streaming?
any recommendation on which ISP can give me decent streaming speeds?

Even local is f@cked at present...

Here is a trace route for good measure before I here it is exchange congestion.

Well, the problem on this traceroute is that hops 5,6,7,8 and 9 are all on IPNet. If we had a problem, it would have shown up on hop 3 or hop 5.

So, either there is a problem between nbsc-ip-bssr-2 and nbsc-ip-rcache-1, or there happened to be a latency spike when traceroute was sending packets with a ttl of 9, that coincided.

And this is why mtr or winmtr is better, as it traces the path, and then pings all the hops on the path and provides stats on each hop.

And yes, it is possible for your DSLAM to be horribly congested for 1 minute, and then be fine after that.

We are seeing high utilisation (still within limits, but getting quite close) on one IPC link, in Cape Town, and you didn't go through it.

Try Facebook, it's the only way I got a response. Although they didn't call when they said they would, so I posted once gain, and they called.

They are meant to call again tomorrow, but what are the chances?

Well, I have no failbook account :(

Have they contacted you yet, I have had no reply from the e-mail I sent on Friday yet...

The 1st call to cancel took 47 minutes, just to be told that the system was offline.
The 2nd call took 68 minutes before answered.
The process to complete the form took another 30 minutes.
I was told that it will take 30 days to cancel and I could not get past that, as apparently the form is sent elsewhere and I will be called. by the department
Also requested that my email addresses to be kept and cancelled every single other service I had except my telephone Line and ADSL line.

Funny enough all the other services are immediately cancelled, except the data package.

I can't remember if you have posted a traceroute recently. If not, I would have liked to see one.

Yeah, I am still waiting for that call, gave both my mobile and office number...

That's because I'm a happy TI camper - not into gaming or Netflix :)

Was just over at my mom's place. She's running a 4Mbps line but been complaining to me since last week that the internet is dead.

Did a quick speed test after checking everything out:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 60 kbps (7.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 44 kbps (5.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 1494 ms

So bloody glad I'm no longer a Telkom client. Seems things are just going from bad to worse.

Any other place I can retrieve my DSL Username and password? I use to have it on SMS but my phone has lost all data.

Tried to call call center, after about 2 hours still nobody answering. Sent multiple twitter messages with no response, complained on Facebook but no response.

Seriously can a simple task like this be so difficult to accomplish!!!!

Reason I don't have them in my modem? I used another ISP (vox) while telkom had all this connection problems.

Looks as though TI might have created a retentions department possibly doing exit interviews, let us know how it goes.
