Want to ask about Telkom Internet issues, here's your chance! (16:30-17:00 today)

I signed up yesterday morning, half past 9 last night they sent me my login details.
Ive been downloading since then, couple of torrents and an origin game update.

Across the lot of them my average is 200KB, so, so far, im quite happy with it :-)

International speeds are awful again. PLEASE fix this already.

Nobody cares whose "fault" it is, the customer's problem, and YOUR responsibility. If your international bandwidth provider is a piece of garbage, then tell them they need to up their game. If the IPC is broken, send a team of engineers to fix it, and while you're at it TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT YOU ARE DOING IT FOR FCK'S SAKE. Also, upgrade the damn exchanges if they need it. Seems like a tough job, and it is... But it's impossible to ever change anything if you don't try change it in the first place.

It's pretty clear there's a problem, and TI either can't or won't or isn't capable if fixing it at the moment. They also seem to be incapable or are being prohibited from providing any feedback to customers. Do what I, and many others have done and talk with your money. Cancel your accounts.
 
Anyone get any responses from the reps recently?

Think they might have been roped in to help process cancellations. Two in my family and 4 among my friends. Would love to know how many [country wide] have cancelled their Telkom ISP accounts and or ADSL lines.
 
lol, got asked for traceroutes over and over, might as well just keep a notepad saved so that i can give them the info over and over coz they do nothing with it in anycase, torrents dead, gaming dead, streaming dead, browsing is working slightly...........
 
swapped DNS to Jo'burg and Durban......lets see how long my streaming and gaming last
 
Last 24hrs Just about 48GB :p. This 44GB Sochi opening ceremony in 1080i better be worth it :wtf:

Browsing was fine on NeoGaf and a few regular news sites. Haven't gamed in a long time so no comment there. I did notice mybb timing out not long ago. Probably an isolated issue.

Do you know there is much better content you could spend that 44GB on...
 
I kept on getting kicked from local DayZ servers because of excessively high pings of around 400ms. Hooked up a 1GB Afrihost account just to play it.
 
Telkom tell you about the penalty of terminating your contract early. So you can't blame them for that.

But they don't tell you about the sh*t speeds. It isn't asking to much to expect decent speeds for a service we are paying for. I would be happy with 50-75% of my line speed at the moment but I'm getting 30-50kB/s.

Can anyone please check what speeds you get after about a minute of downloading Fedora on any of these local links.

I know, i was also testing daytime speeds from the seedbox and so far it isn't bad. Edit: didn't know there was issues at the opening ceremony as you mentioned :/. I got to say however, this quality is flawless despite that :O.

Yeh, the "better content" will be queued later on :D.

Going to test Netflix now.

Switched to Vox's Gig4Gig with the Uncapped Bolt On. Suits my needs perfectly and (touch wood) browsing and streaming are both FLYING! Been streaming Hulu on high and even HD settings with little to no buffering whatsoever.

Issued a cancellation order today for my Telkom data package. Done with paying for sub-par service. Woman at the call center got quite an earful when she asked "why exactly are you cancelling sir?". I insisted the call be recorded before letting loose and letting her know exactly what I think of Telkom's utterly s*** service. So long Helkom. It's been real.
