RoMark, have you had any improvement yet? I have been on the phone with Telkom (Telkom UNCAPPED 2MB) for the past week. Latency is horrible lately. Also in PE area. Its not exchange congestion though, afrihost is running fine.
Don't know what else to do....
PS- my download speeds are perfect, but my pings locally are over 200ms

When did you move to uncapped?I'm at the beginning of a new month and only getting 75KBps max on a 4Mb uncapped line. WTH??

Ranger posted something in the last 2 or 3 pages about usage for Capetown still higher than they expected.Having doubts about this account.. Both my account and my mates on the other side of Cape Town are performing very poorly of late. You can basically forget to stream anything and just loading a site can take an age. Only used 40GB odd as well (2mb)
Please post a traceroute, to confirm which site you are going through. Cape Town is still running higher utilisation than we had planned for, and some physical work is required to increase capacity there.
(speed won't be affected by how long the download has been running, but by the utilisation on the network, and there are some variances by region. For example, in the Cape Town site, while utilisation is high during the day - as one would expect - it increases further from around 15h30 to peak at around 22h30, and only drops below the 09h00 utilisation after midnight)
Eish!![]()
And this on my new Telkom ISP. On a 10meg line!!!!! People at the telkom helpdesk can't / won't help me and suggested I cancel the contract if I am not happy with the speed...
Eish!
Seems like that a lot of people are not having much luck with the Net on the various ISP's.
Maybe try @TelkomZA on twitter or try with other ISP details to see if it is a TI problem?
Edit:
Or check here: - Maybe your area is affected?

I've just checked with pingtest and my line has dropped from "A" grade to "C" grade with packet loss and high jitter count for local.
International has gone from "B" to "D" grade with lots of jitter and packet loss.
It does seem that there are some problems around.
Oh ok. It would be good to know that I am not the only one with the bad speeds lol! I just hope I did not make a mistake by signing a 24 month contract with them now![]()
I needed a new modem, as the one that I had does not work that well![]()
PS3 has no problem, so I doubt that they will block XBox.Question: Are gaming ports on TelkomISP blocked?
having trouble connecting to xbox live and this is after forwarding ports etc
