Hello Everyone,

Hope you guys are well?
I just want to find out on the Uncapped products and how they perform.

I'm looking at 4 or 10mbps uncapped,
>How are they for gaming to international during the day and night?
>How are downloads during the day and night?
>How is streaming on Youtube?

I'm also a heavy down loader and won't lie about that....

Any feedback will much appreciated.

Hey Amphibious
:)

These are my experiences on a 4Mbps line
I play mostly FPS (MW3, BLOPS2 and Battlefield 3) via PS3 and I do GT5 racing. Some lag on MW3 at times, but I think you will find that problem on most ISP's. Best is to play locals if you can, but I play a lot of internationals as well without problems. I have found that latency are times 30 - 50ms higher compared to some of the other ISP's, but the last week or 2 it seems that the gap has narrowed. In general I'm happy with my online gaming experience.

Http downloads are almost always at 420 - 430kB/s - Full speed
I don't do lot of torrents, but I've limited mine to 200kB/S for day time use and it seems I do get full speed at night.

Most Youtube videos default to 480p, but I can watch most of them on 720p without stuttering. I can watch 1080p at times, but I get a lot that stutters as well.

I'm not a heavy down loader (about 120GB/month, but it seems some of the other guys do well in that department.

Hi there, I paid my Telkom account via eft, and am wanting to forward a proof of payment. What number/e-mail address do I use?

I got an SMS about paying my account this morning, and I'm so worried they going to disconnect me :/

Thanks :)

Were you *asked* to forward proof of payment? As far as I know, if you pay by most of the modern methods (e.g. EFT), payments are processed automatically, and no proof of payment is required.

What number/e-mail address do I use?

The page on paying your bill doesn't state that proof of payment is required.

(Note, I am not 100% sure of the answer, as I try and stay away from the central billing system as much as I can ... so don't take my response as advice not to provide proof of payment if you have any other instruction to do so)

Hi Amphibious... I think you should go for the 10mb uncapped account if you can afford. torrents downloads @ around or upto 1mbps depending on peers and also what you line can handle... you can watch full 1080p youtube videos without buffering. Im not into online gaming much so I cant answer you there but I dont think you will have much problems there either.... I played company of hero's online and works brilliant so need I say more?

Today's the first day things seem to be a bit slow. Im struggling to upload via FTP to a server in Germany; anyone else noticing slowness today?

Switched to my Afrihost free gig and it's going nice and quick, no timeouts.

To local site my FTP seems good.
Http dl seems okay.
I tested news server and torrent for somebody and they were slow, but it was a new article and a not so healthy torrent.

Just read this on another forum.
He claims he is on a 1Mbps package?

would really like to know if there is anyone on the site that uses telkom internet and have you ever received a warning that you are using above average data a month for a residential area.

well i received a letter from telkom telling me i average 50 gigs a month and they will be monitoring my account even though it uncapped and if it persists then they going to either cap me or we have to work out a business deal package because not even businesses use so much data a month....

if anyone one has or do average that amount of data usage a month or even received a letter like that please tell me whats the deal or if anyone can advise me what to do or should i change internet providers.

thank you to anyone assisting me here   :innocent:

I'm guessing he had done 50GB in April at the time of posting (+/- 10GB/day or 300GB/mth), if that's the case I reckon he warrants a warning.

I agree if true. I also thought that way, but he did say averaging 50GB. Can you do 10GB/day on a 1meg line?
I hope it is bull, but Ranger did say that there will be communication soon regarding the uncapped accounts, if I recall correctly.

I don't want to start a stupid rumour, but was a bit worried when I read it, although it does sound like a young kid that is not too clued up regarding ADSL etc. He was really confused and worried how to handle the account now.

I'd say yes if you're torrenting 24/7 (leeching and seeding), I used to do 300GB combined when I was on TI 2Mb uncapped without consciously trying but that is on a 6Mb line so you get close to theoretical maximum throughput.

LoL. I honestly did not know. I though that 120GB or so would be a mathematical max.
I haven't done the maths obviously, nor have I on my 4Meg line. Wonder why I thought the limit would be 120GB?
Possibly the amount somebody have downloaded and it sort of got stuck in my mind.

Looking at your second hop you've got a bad case of exchange congestion

Have you tested with another ISP account?

I wonder if there is still a problem in Cape Town?
Ranger said that they were experiencing still problems there, although that was earlier in the week if I recall?
Your problems seems to start at the exchange already.
No other downloads running?

I see my stats are just as bad as yours, but I do have files uploading to Drpbox and I think a PSP is updating as well.

Hmm no, I have no other downloads running at all. Telkom said there is no problem at the exchange... so I don't know what to do.
