Please could u indicate which options u had to choose on 10210.

I have trying to get some more info from Telkom, and the best I could get was that if I cancel, they will give me 25% discount. That is not going to help, since I want to upgrade to a 4 meg uncapped and the 25% discount will make it worthwhile.

I unfortunately chucked my notes out after getting everything sorted but mightymuffinman has it right
 
Been experiencing sluggish performance for about a week now. Speedtest pulls through just over 2Mbps (I upgraded to 4Mbps a couple of weekz ago), but international sites take ages to load, or start timing out. Have to then restart the modem, and hope pages start loading again.

Anyone else experiencing something similar?

You need to speak to cancellations for the discount. They do explain that you can upgrade but it is a 12 month contract when signing for the 25% discount
 
Primary suspect is exchange congestion, if you haven't done so already run a tracert as per the example with no downloads of any type running when you experience the problem.

If your second hop (bolded in the example) is in the hundreds of millesecs you probably have exchange congestion, results will vary depending on the time of day. Not much the helpdesk can do if the exchange needs upgrading.

sigh, my TI has gone vrot, cant stream from youtube tonight, tracert seems ok, speedtest is crap (usually sits at around 8mbps). Ive reset my router and cleared out all firewall filters.

I've been calling Telkom regarding the 25% discount.

No one seems to know anything about it. The one woman told me to hold, heard her going through papers. Then after a few minutes came back on the line and told me it's 'too much'.

Also, no one seems to want to offer me 10MB uncapped - they say that because I'm on 2MB they can only offer 4MB uncapped because I might not get 10MB. Can't they just do a sync test on my line first? (My area does support 10MB)

Tell them your exchange has confirmed you can sync at 10MB. that did the trick for me.

This is what eventually got me the 25% discount, my line was on 10mb but TI's system said the line was only capable of 4mb, after about an hour of talking to every department at telkom I finally got a guy who put me on a full 10mb uncapped account. It was a major mission though.

It's an email, [email protected] - apparently you can cancel and order services from it. I gave it a try. Will update if it works or not. Might be a better way to get things done instead of having to call over and over.
 
Thanks to everyone for providing the info on the discounts, going to also phone and see if i can get it. Maybe get it on 2x ADSL lines at home :). Will report back if any positive progress.

Is the idirect thing a new initiative or how long has it been around?

Seems to have been around for a while. People raving about how much easier it is to cancel etc.

In theory it would work better. The person has time to read your email over a few times, ask others etc.

It still works in the sense that you get an auto reply with a reference number. I'm not sure if mine just got sent to someone with a full mailbox or if they all go there.

If it's no longer in use they should remove it from the website because it's also on several pages.
