Just an update on this. Phoned this afternoon and chatted to a lady in cancellations. I got my 25% discount. There is no free modem with the contract. U sign up for a year. If u upgrade your line, u will keep the discount. If u downgrade, u loose the discount. The discount is applied for a period of 12 months. Also the discount only applies to the ADSL line rental portion.

Hope this help some others in getting their discounts.

So what is your total monthly bill then from Telkom for 4Mb uncapped after discount? (for line, rental, account)

Success on the discount.

Phoned and chose option 5 for cancellations and explained hearing about it. Was done in under 15mins. Also changing speeds as mentioned above gives you the discount but downgrading will not. I thought a modem was free heh but alas still a saving so no complaints. This was on one line so will see about the other one at a later stage.

This is a good reminder for me since in a years time we are getting our MSANs installed :D.

Appreciate the info guys and OP will be updated soon for users who are just discovering this thread ;-).

I would happily sign up for a contract too if they allow the upgrade of speed but going to wait until Telkom give us an update on their uncapped AUP

Update on the [email protected] - My follow up response went to [email protected] and the mail was undeliverable because the mailbox is full. I don't know who operates this mailbox but they really need to get a grip.

idirect was historically a distribution list. We hooked it up to a ticket system about a year ago, and have been trying to wean the staff off direct emails, because of problems like this, and many others.

You should have received an auto-reply, with a ticket number. If you didn't, please PM me the email address you sent from, so we can track the mail and see what happened.

Be sure to check your SPAM folder first though ...

Called the options centre/ cancellations. I must have really bad luck because she didn't even know the prices of the products, let alone this 25% discount. I will try again later or tomorrow.

People in the distribution list are all useless.
First you get your ref email from them.
After that all you get is this reply
"According to our records, your request has been resolved. If you have any further questions or concerns, please respond to this message.

If the request has been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not reply (as this will re-open the ticket automatically)"
a blatend lie because the account i requested to be closed is stil open.

If you reply to reopen the ticket you simply get the same automated response.
This is now the 2nd day after I received the mail and it is still active

So if you signup for a 12 month contact you get a 25% discount.... Dont you think that the ADSL pricing in SA will drop before then? but then again even if it does its not going to be more then 25% off. Not a bad deal if it applies to the uncapped line rental as well

So does anyone know if it does?

This whole Telkom discount structure is very confusing, I'm already receiving a 25% discount without a contract comprised of the following two discounts:

1) DO Uncapped Premium Bundle - R83.33 CR
2) Do Premium (Do Level 3) - R96.49 CR

I was thinking of downgrading my 20GB capped (item 2) to 5GB capped as I am very happy with the 4GB uncapped ATM but because of the discount I'll forgo it doesn’t seem as if any worthwhile savings will made.

Please PM me the ticket number, and I will investigate, and if necessary, escalate the agent who resolved the ticket.

Waiting for the titracker update :(

The titracker deployment has been delayed, because the development done up to now was designed with a redirect feature for SoftCapped products when users had finished their normal data allocation, before going onto the Soft-cap profile, so that customers were aware of the change, and presented with other options (TopUp, out-of-bundle).

It appears there is concern that this would violate the ADSL regulations (even though it would be more customer friendly).

So, some more work needs to be done to update some of those aspects to cater for this without the redirect. I don't have an ETA, we should know more in a week or so.

So, you have a 4Mbps line, a 20GB Telkom Internet account, and a 4Mbps uncapped Telkom Internet account, and you are receiving discounts for 2 bundles?

Do you want me to report this bug?

Guys what causes the high ping to your router when doing a trace route? As some may remember I have posted here before a few weeks back. I am so frustrated at the moment, and the 10210 technicians aren't helping, as all they offer to do is re-create/reset my port.

What is wrong with the Telkom Uncapped????

Was on the phone with a technician for 15min, he told me these pings are normal because my line is "shared":wtf::twisted: and that there is nothing that he can do about the high pings. Can someone just confirm this please? Funny thing was, when I first told him that I was experiencing high pings, he asked me what the problem was with it being high and what he must do, can you believe it? He asked me if he must make it low?? As you can imagine this was a WTF moment for me:wtf:
