Thx Mick.
Seems speed is back.
Can you maybe explain why I'm getting constant 2.93Mbps dl speed for international, but 3.3 for local download.
It has been this way for about 3 weeks.
I used to get same speed local and international?
Still green on Titracker.

It's called 'distance' and it's always applied. That's why when playing online games the further away from a server you are the higher your latency/ping will be.

But it generally only shows itself in speedtests and online gaming, http downloads and torrents usually reach your line's max speed unless intentionally limited (such as free downloading from a filesharing site often is or torrents either limited by seed limits of the seeds or the upload limits of their connections).

As I have a 6Mb line I used TI capped during business hours prior to March and only used 2Mb uncapped after hours as it was too slow for my business purposes.

Since February though TI have put a lot of work into their uncapped QoS and now it would be hard differentiate between my 6Mb capped and 4Mb uncapped performance (I'm only keeping my TI 20GB capped as backup ATM).

As you'll get close to true 2Mbps speeds on a 4Mb line with 2Mb uncapped it sounds as though you wouldn't see much difference in performance given your current congestion problems if you do downgrade - you can but try :)

Thanks MickZA,

I just got off the phone with options centre and they have downgraded me to uncapped advanced. Was all done in less than 10min.

Speedtest before I called

Speedtest after I called

You were 100% right bra, almost no difference at all.

Shot for your advise

Ping looks good and your line stats seem more than able to run at 4MB.
Drop TelkomZA a PM and he'll look into it.
I was having erratic drops in packets and thanks to TelkomZA a tech came out and fixed the error conditions on my line.

EDIT:
Glad to read your speeds are back.
And I agree with Mick that its a Telkom issue as I have the opposite problem with international speedtests being higher than local on occasion (when it works right LOL)

Maybe I should also downgrade to 2mbps.
The problem is I stream Netflix and Hulu in the evenings and I hate the stuttering and pixelation with a slow line speed.

My Local speed is almost a full meg slower than my International

I don't know how it is that I managed 3MB, since I just downgraded to Do Advanced (2MB but line is 4MB) WTH :wtf: :D

There is a small bug with upgrades/downgrades not updating the traffic management system correctly when the upgrade or downgrade goes through. It should fix itself quite soon, and a bugfix is in the works.

We do most testing on a 10Mbps line, and 2Mbps accounts don't get more than 2.01Mbps speedtests.

I guess I'll just enjoy it while it lasts :D
Don't rush the fix tho Ranger, take your time

EDIT:

Damn it seems the traffic management caught up with me LOL

Today, after 2 months of calls and fault logging a Technician finally came to my house to check my speed. He plugged his modem and laptop in and was also getting 1 Mbps. He then went to the exchange and moved me to another port. He tested from the exchange and said he was getting 3.2Mbps. Unfortunately from home I am still getting 1.5 Mbps. He said he'll be back on Monday.
Praying he gets me up to at least 3Mbps.

Hmm, how did I go from Green to Orange in a matter of 3GB???

Speeds are however still fine:

Download Speed: 896 kbps (112 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 415 kbps (51.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 77 ms

Ranger, when you get the time, can you tell us what are the chances that there'll ever be a DSL account that prioritises uploads rather than downloads? I know several people who would be interested in a product that uploads at 5MB/s, even if their downloads are something paltry, like 1MB.
