No, me too. Still unable to download HTTP files. Netflix is streaming, but on low quality.
Definitely the shaping, but the shaping rules seem weird. NNTP seems to fly at all hours of the day, but for some reason the other protocols are taking a hit. Performance has been steadily degrading in the evenings - browsing and streaming, which you'd expect to be prioritised are really, really crap. Daytime is a little better but it has also been steadily declining recently. If I wanted an account that was useless any time but after hours, I'd get the Openweb After Hours uncapped - at least there they relax shaping at the stroke of 5pm.
Ranger/TelkomZA - are there any problems in general, or in the WC?
Signed up for Uncapped with Telkom through their website about 2 hours ago. At the end it said that someone would be contacting me soon.
Does anyone approximately know how long it takes on average before they call?

PM TelkomZA on these forums. He'll get the process done in no time.

TelkomZa is not what it used to be.
Don't know if Charl is still involved with them.
The guys manning it lately (using monikers ^MM and ^BF to identify themselves) don't respond and when they do it's days later, with a vague buck-pass.
Haven't had much luck trying to get them to resolve line speed issues.
That said, it'll be much, much better than phoning them.
Their phone jockeys are trained to ask you if you've been to speedtest.net and will ask you to reboot your router. That's all they do.

Yeah. In the end I did call Telkom. Turns out that they didn't even have my info for signing up through the website -_-
Luckily the person that I talked to was able to help me and I got my login details about 30 minutes later.
Same here.Amusingly - same thing happened to me. Applied for an account through their website - which went straight into the void. Good thing I got in touch with TelkomZA or I would've been sitting waiting for a response for days.

Would agree with what you've said.
Not impressed lately. In the evenings certain protocols are getting shafted, they weren't before.
Some feedback would be appreciated.
If you don't have a location set on your account to at least a province or region of South Africa, and provide no further information, it is difficult to provide feedback.
There is currently an issue with SAIX's Akamai deployment, and it seems to mostly affect people in the Western Cape, resulting in those users pulling content from the Akamai servers at MWEB, and the SAIXMWEB peering link is suffering from that. SAIX notified Akamai some time back. All traffic not served from Akamai or MWEB should not be affected.
For all other regions, as communicated previously, we have been having some resource utilisation problems on our traffic management platform, which still affect our Gauteng site. We upgraded the Cape Town site two weeks ago, and the upgrade for the Gauteng site will go ahead tonight as planned. The resource utilisation issue may have been contributing to problems during our peak traffic times, which are 20h00 to 22h00 on Mon-Thu and Sun, and sometimes also (to a slightly lesser degree) 14h30 to 16h00, but it could also just be due to more demand at those times. After the upgrade, we will know more.
I'm convinced that the akamai servers on saix are flawed in some way. Because playstation network downloads are sloooow (maybe 6gb in 24 hours on 4mbps, downloads failing half way. On Mweb it was never a problem, and works better when switch to Afrihost account.
