Just tested with my backup Afrihost account and all streaming eg. Hulu and Netflix on either AppleTV or Samsung Smart TV are working perfectly. HD without problems.

Telkom Internet you can do better.

Anyone here using IPTorrent? I just kicked off downloading the latest Linux Distro from IPTorrent and its running rampant!

I will test a linux distro from kicka$$ next.

Woke up this morning with Telkom having upgraded my line from 2Mb to 4Mb, thanks Telkom. Now however I'm stuck with the conundrum of how to ask them to back me back down to 2Mb.

So what's the best way to do it, with the least amount of pain and possible stuff ups? Do I pm TelkomZA or do I go the route of 10210 and hope like hell I get a competent operator?

I have no issues whatsoever from 18:00 in the evening. Watch Netflix every night around that time.

I also watch but at the lowest quality. Some people are OK with that and others not. BBC is unwatchable due to continuous buffering.

Hi all

I left Mweb before the new AUP and then moved to Afrihost and was a happy camper. It then got worse when all the people who got shafted by Mweb left to join Afrihost. Afrihost has been kinda bad for me lately and im thinking of jumping to TI. I was wondering if you guys are satisfied with TI?

I'm very happy with Ti. Torrents are shaped very heavily lately, that would be the only critisism I have with them.
When my exchange permits my account runs flawlesly, getting line speed across all protocols(P2P excluded).

Currently watching Star Trek Voyager which was not broadcast in the best quality to begin with so it might be that I will not even notice the quality reduction when TI slows down. Will try with a newer series tonight and see.

Is NNTP throttled the same as Torrents? How bad is the shaping throughout the evening?

I have not seen any NNTP throttling. I get full line speed most of the time unless is it still busy caching on the SAIX Usenet server.

Oh it should be noted I am on Afrihost Business Uncapped. Torrents and NNTP are never shaped, but my general YouTube/Twitch performance has been really bad, and I rely on YouTube to watch lectures and various educational content quite often. I also get the feeling that sometimes Afrihost are not willing to help me out, my line stats are great, and my traceroutes show signs of a strong line but they still don't know why my streaming is terrible.

YouTube has been just fine for me on TI regardless of time of day. Its Netflix and BBC that has recently taken a knock after hours.

My biggest complaint.

During the day these protocols are perfect - you can stream in HD high quality without problems (on my 10meg line) but after 6PM somebody decides to throttle these protocols or connections to the CDN's they use.

Without throughput streaming video services will drop down to the lowest bitrate (if you're lucky) and you can watch in grain-o-vision or sometimes not at all.

Ranger - can somebody please investigate. There has to be a technical answer for this problem. Your guys did something to make this happen, it has become worse and worse over the last month.

Yes sadly due to this I had to cancel my Hulu subscription. Netflix still works fine but Hulu adverts just stutter and buffer for EVER (on 4mb uncapped). :(

On TI as well, my Netflix is fine at all hours. However, NNTP is very slow for me during the evenings & nights, but full line speed during the day.
