Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

Ranger can you please tell me why Black Ops/Black OpsII servers have not been running for the last two days?

No idea. We will focus on gaming from ... later today.

This always seems to be a problem with TELKOM. I use MWEB bandwidth and I have absolutely no problem connecting! You should head over to dO gaming Forums and check out the posts there as well. I'm sorry but over and above issues I've had since Friday with the new dO broadband + 10 meg package I changed to I have a feeling I might just be forced to go back to MWEB. I've always been a strong advocate for using TELKOM as an ISP and have done so since ADSL BETA Testing started, but I feel the call centers are left in the dark in regards to what is "ACTUALLY" happening and end up feeding customers generic scripted answers whenever the SHTF.

We actually made a lot of effort to ensure the call centres knew what was going on, what not to recommend (e.g. "Don't ask the customer to reset their modem", "Don't ask the customer to change anything!"), what to recommend, how to communicate issues to us etc., but we got *nothing* back from them except executive escalations delayed by 6 hours (IOW, by the time we found out what issues they had been having for 6 hours, they were mostly fixed, but if they had notified us sooner we could have resolved sooner).

The BlackOps..... and I'm assuming COD issue is nothing new. It has been a problem since the old days of peering which I thought was over.

Until now our focus has been on getting the new network on-par with the old one. Improvements should start coming soon after that ...

We only have one real gamer in our team, another in a team that sits near us. Most of the rest of us just don't have the time ... so pointers would help (at least me).

Thanks for the feedback ranger. I just checked my usage tracker tool and it came back with I am software capped. I have an uncapped account so what does that mean? I use http:// sites for downloading certain files. Last month they were going at around 50 -60 k now they are around 10-20k. I am not at home at present so I will need to look the sites up. Who knows maybe tomorrow it will be better?

It means there is a bug.

Send one example if you are still experiencing problems.

Actually, in our testing, only contacting trackers was the problem. If we connected with an unshaped, we could contact trackers, and if we reconnected, the torrents worked adequately. But, we will try and have this fixed by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the others. BTW., what games "worked flawless"?

Well league of legends worked flawless last night when I palyed. Ping to eu was a very stable 220ms with no spikes or lag. :-)

Ohh and BTW my ti tracker also shows soft capped on my 4Mbps uncapped account but it doesn't seem to effect the speed.

If you compare where we are now compared to Sunday and Monday, I am sure you will agree things are *much* better. But, at this point, we don't have conclusive information on anything that is not working well (having just fixed peer-to-peer for most regions, busy fixing for the Western Cape now).

ranger I am in helderberg, western cape area. You mention p2p is fixed. I agree as it at least start downloading now, but p2p speed is not good yet. Is improvement to be expected? What is the maximum speed to be expected?

Still getting "scrape error - connection failed" with magnet links from Piratebay ( http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7965375/Linux_-_Google_Chromium_i686-2.4.1290_ISO )

I found if you leave it for a bit they start, but might still show the error and a bit slow.

0.2kb/s on a 2mb line... looks like the death of yet another uncapped product.

@ ranger . You guys are fantastic ! Thanks for the great job you are doing everything seems to be going smooth and well.

I think Telkom are blocking access to certain sites.

I see my problem is Supernews connection timing out.

Actually, I see all my international newsgroup providers are timing out. Yet I can connect to their websites.

Only one connected is Saix.

This is utter bull****. Now getting bytes/second

All's still going well, torrents still a problem though.

Hi, I am not able to download torrents either.

My titracker shows that i am also softcapped.

I have a 1mb uncapped account with telkom.

My speed is good(for 1mb) everywhere else except gaming where my ping is around 400ms to Europe servers

My dl speed basically consistently on 0.7Mbps on 4Mbps line (possible exchange fault)
Upload @ 0.40Mbps- normal
Latency - 230 ms to international - happy with that

Gaming:
Call of Duty (PS3) not connecting to online servers since yesterday.Does work with other accounts.

Working games:
MAG
DC Universe
Battlefields 1943
Toby Hawk pro. Skater HD
Dust514
Wipeout HD

Will test GT5 a bit later in the day.

Since this morning all updates via Play Store for Android fails via wireless updates. Not sure if it is related. Forgot the error code, will update later and will also do update via dataplan to compare.

Edit:
Error code 495
Updates are being done via data packages, but not via wireless router.

Access to trackers was in the same prioritisation as actual bittorrent, and I think the bittorrent was preventing the tracker traffic from getting through. Around 14h30 today we gave tracker (tcp, udp, dht) higher priority than p2p, which looks like it has resolved the problem.

Please provide feedback if this is not the case for you.
