Telkom Internet Usage Tracking Tool shows 0.GB used

Have moved over to my Web Africa account. It definitely wasn't capped and probable did about 20GB on a 10GB account. There is no ways in hell I will be paying for Telkoms stupidity,I have the correct protocols in place for a swap over once capped! If telkom don't cap me why should I pay them for their mistakes.

I get 20GB local,if they didn't switch it,its not my problem. I am sure the CPA will be in our favor. However I dont think its something we should worry about until they actual enforce it,because when they do we will need all the fighting power we can get ;)

Yes, no way in hell I am paying for something that's not my fault. I have been spitting my traffic this for years and never had a single problem

This has happened to Telkom a few times where a fault causes the usage tracker to die and no one has been over billed on blended usage. If you read terms and conditions Telkom is allowed to charge you on exceeding your local.
If you went over your "blended/int" cap

As stated here.

If you have a 16GB/30GB account simply DO NOT EXCEED 46GB. If you go over that you will be charged.

I'm aware of the fact that this has happened before. The problem I have is that 'ranger' seems to know exactly whats going on (*cough*), and implied that we will be billed (this month) for overuse (on BLENDED, since we aren't being capped at this moment) - so I'd like some clarification on this confusion

Telkom can do what they want but the piece of paper i signed says otherwise if they intend to charge on us for their mess up then il be more than happy to get a lawyer involved. We are getting ahead of ourselves though

Well i just had a read over the T&C and there is nothing related to exceeding int data and being charged for it unless i pay for a top up, it explicitly says that int data will be hard caped. Also nothing about us having to reimburse Telkom for any system faults on their side.

Yeah makes absolute sense. However, look here --> http://www.telkomsa.net/support/termsconditions.html , and scroll down to section 5.1.3 a). The last point reads: "Telkom does not guarantee the efficiency of the measurements in this clause 5.1.3. The customer remains responsible for his Data Usage and will be billed for all Data Usage which exceeds the Blended Data Cap''.

Blended being both int + local, il glady pay for exceeded local but not exceeded international

Checked my usage now at Saix, 35GB. If they charge the extra 15 as blended and not part of the included 30GB local after blended capped, I am out of R750 because it seems blended did not cap.

I hate them.

eish 228 gig last month and 96 gig this month

Thanks for the link to check it on saix site.

well we can cry together next month when the bill drops mrlgm007

I will pay for anything exceeded the Local + Blended total. However I did not exceed so...

i.e if I did 35GB on my 9GB(+20GB) account then I will pay for 6GB @ R15.00 per GB as the website states.

"Your usage will be accounted for."

Bollocks, Mr Ranger. Stop trying to scare us into submission. Telkom's data tracking system is obviously not up to scratch, and the fact that it was so broken for so long would be case enough that you cannot charge people for going over caps - your account usage data is clearly questionably (in)accurate.

+1 - A few thousand angry Telkom customers. They don't stand a chance. Consumer Protection Act and such.

Same thing happened with AfriHost when they first introduced their R29/gb special. Many people went over due their capping system not capping correctly. Mass outcry, CEO sorted it out.

All of us opening a collective petition if needed will sort it out.

In cases where the system was clearly ABUSED is a slightly different story perhaps, but the average user would not have gone over the amount they generally use each month. The customer CANNOT be held liable where they were within the boundaries of their standard service. (i.e Mix of blended and local totals).
