Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Supersport channels do not improve picture on the DStv now app, no matter what version is installed. All channels improve with the adaptive bitrate, but of the sports channels only supersport 1 actually improves. SS blitz, SS 2,3,4,5 etc do not adjust. It's so annoying watching this rubbish resolution. Have a look at supersport 1, then change over to supersport 3 and see the difference. For the life of me I cannot find a way around it. Anyone else notice this?
 
Can anyone confirm if DTS-HD and TrueHD passthrough in Kodi on this box works ?
I know the list is very short on boxes that do this.
 
I couldn't get TrueHD or DTS-HD to work on either.

Does your device play dstv now without freezing every few seconds???
 
got a response from telkom on twitter.. There is an update coming soon.. hope not next year :D

Did u enable install from unknown sources in settings..

Also try downloading the APK again.. could be corrupt. Uninstall any previous netflix that may be loaded

NM got it working. Anyway to add Netflix to my movie section? I have to keep going to apps in settings to open the darn thing.

The S905X processor that the LIT has can do it, it seems people who's don't work natively on that chip dual boot LibreElec and that works just fine. If DTS-HD / TrueHD pass through is important then there's that option to look at.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I think android itself is the limiter and the devices it does work with have been customized a bit.
 
Why is Kodi so slow though? Not the interface but more the addons take so much longer to resolve links and makes even watching an episode of something a mission.

Download sideload launcher from playstore to show all sideloaded apps.
That's the way Android TV works
 
Has anyone been able to get the lit box recently added to their telkom landline account as mentioned earlier in the previous thread? I went to Telkom in Century City and they said HQ only added the devices to be bought on contract. My ADSL line and account is with WebAfrica.

Got mine from n1 about 2 weeks ago only landline with telkom adsl and data afrihost.

You just need your id I took it on contract and for a telkom shop the lady was very helpfull. Just make sure they have stock i think they mentioned somewhere they are out of stock.
