I dont know? For some or other reason it's @WesleyR that is testing the LIT remote on his Mi Box.
People break the remotes and if this works, it could be an alternative. And Android may have seen the remote as an HID and work, or partially.

I think Android does support HID (I'll need to Google)

Put batteries in the remote. The buttons work immediately via IR. Can use the remote to connect the Bluetooth functionality.

1. On the LIT, go to settings in the top right
2. go down to accesories I think and find new device
3. I used 'OK' and 'volume down' on the remote to put it in pairing mode
4. press 'OK' button on the remote when you see the remote name on the screen
Tried this, but cant seem to pair it.

No I think he's right... The voice is the only Bluetooth part. I'll check it out though.

When you first get țhe the remote, use IR to navigate to the pairing menu. I thought that maybe once it was paired, it would change all to BT... But it seems not

BTW it seems that Geewiz have Mi remotes... And they sell an IR remote, which means the Mi should have IR. So perhaps the IR is incompatible between LIT and Mi
So am I correct in saying the the new remotes still need to be aimed at the Litbox like a typical IR remote, and that the Bluetooth functionality is purely just for voice search?

We tested today and I was actually going to reply, but I got busy and can't although we did the tests, I can't remember the results... Sorry :(

I don't want to lie and say yes or no (though my gut is that everything is Bluetooth once paired - don't quote me)

Now do you know what would be absolutely awesome? If it could control the lights as well ...

Yea... But that's separate device.

But I think Google should have baked that into Android TV as well. It should be exactly the same as Google Home IMO
No I mean the Google Home app that you can install on your phone.

Google assistant runs on android tv when you press the voice button. If you have your lights setup / added to Google home, can't you use Google assistant to control them?

I think here:
Open Google Home (install the app form the play store)
Go to settings -> linked media accounts -> and link your Spotify account.

Seems to work on my end.

I have my lights setup and the last time I tried on the LIT (pre upgrade) it wouldn't work.

Through the both the phone and Google Home, it would operate the light - *but not through the LIT . With Amazon Alexa, it seems no matter which device you use (Dot / Showtime / Sonos Audio / Aazon Fire etc) you're getting the same experience and Alexa is identical no matter the device.

*tried this pre-upgrade though - so unsure if Android 8.0 may have changed anything.
