Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

What ever happened to the person, that was working/building the android tv 8.0 os for the Lit box, few weeks back and would have uploaded it, for persons to test?

Well no updates on my A07 i got back in September 2017, as for the prime video issue, there a nvdia shield mod apk, someone pulled from the shield, as amazon is only supporting certain android tv devicea, that runs ok, most of the time.

Just wondering if this will be available in south africa https://9to5google.com/2018/10/09/xiaomi-mi-box-s-android-tv-pre-orders/amp/

Pretty much the same as the current Mi Box, just the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth chipset that is different and it comes with Oreo 8.2.

Not yet available here for sale.

Could be, as I am almost certain that there is now a NetFlix app in the Google Play store, will check properly this evening, last night I did not really have time to fiddle.

There's always been an app in the Play store since the start.

But the LIT needs something extra (ie when Netflix give the green light) that actually makes it work. Until then, that app says incompatible and the only option for the time being is sideloading an APK.

I forgot about that, and as the Afrikaners say, " het bly geword " such is life ...

Hi people. I need some advice. I have 3 chromecast dongles at home of which 1 is version 1 and the other 2 is version 2. I have been having issues with the version 1 dongle, where I keep getting errors/problems. I'm looking to replace the version 1 with either another chromecast or the Telkom Lit or Skyworth Binge Box. I read through this whole thread and also the one regarding the Skyworth and now I can't decide which is the right one. I have read all the pros and cons regarding both devices, making it even more difficult for me to decide. +-R1000-R1200 is all I want to spend...The Chromecast is the 3rd option. Between the 2 media players, which is the better option? My wife will mostly use the media player to watch Plex via HDMI and the odd DSTV or Showmax. We also want to use the box when going on holiday....If the holiday place doesn't have a HDMI connection then the skyworth is useless, as the Lit has 3.5mm to av connection and the skyworth only has hdmi as far as I can tell. I know DRM issues for DSTV, but on the other hand I can get a HDMI to RCA connector that removes the drm so that I can watch DSTV then, but the connector is an additional R800......thanx for your feedback. Takelot has the Skyworth for R799 now and the Lit is R1100. If I read regarding repairs the Lit maybe be an issue via Telkom processes, but how is the Lit boxes holding so far?

I forgot to ask as well, I have a 1tb NTFS portable hdd, will I be able to connect my portable and watch movies via one of the usb ports?

Get a xiaomi mi box. It's Netflix certified, does dstv now etc.
Only shortfalls are the fact it has no ethernet port and one USB port.

Having an issue with the DSTV Now app, hope you guys can help.

It was working perfectly, but this weekend it pops up with a message to go to now.dstv.com/tv and i need to enter the code displayed.

Everytime i go to now.dstv.com/tv and there is no option to enter the code? I tried this on my phone, two different browsers and on chrome on the Lit box?

I don't want to spend R1400-R1500 for a media player and I'm not bothered with netflix....

Got mine for 1100. Watch out for takealot and loot specials, and black Friday is around the corner.

If you are not pushed for time, wait, for Mi Box to go on special for R1200.00, Black Friday coming, but have no idea whether Mi Box will go on sale or not.
