Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Too many reports of updates ending in what appears to be bricked boxes. How many of you have resolved this by now?

There is just no way I will take the plunge to update while there is a very real risk that I could lose my box. And my box is more than 12 months old, so I don't have much hope that Telkom would be able to help either. I have been fighting with them for almost a year to cancel old ADSL accounts, and I just don't want to get into further battles with Telkom as they are next to useless. My box is my only means of tv entertainment in the house, I cannot risk losing it for even a short period of time.

@Nology - Will we be able to get support from you if our box ends up bricking? As per above, I really don't want to work via Telkom...
 
@Taranchio @rodga you guys manage to get DSTV now working again? Mine is not activating and just stays on the screen with the code, yet when I enter the code on the webpage it says success.

My DSTV now isn't working at all.. just shows screenshots of the app. and i can't even uninstall and reinstall as its not on the play store. any suggestions???

Same, and im comfortable flashing roms etc. But i dont think ill do the update either, and rather wait for more info around this issue. And yes its an issue when so many peopleare reporting these problems. I cant believe they are still pushing this update, instead of having a look as to what is causing this
 
Its a bit of a shocker if im honest. /disables auto updates. If thats even possible
 
how long does it take for the second update to start? 1st update done no problem but I have been waiting for almost 3hrs for the second to begin. it is frustrating as my dstv now app doesnt work

Or dolby, i thought they first completing updates for a07 but to date i have not received a notification for update and have tried manually but nothing. Anyway to force the update?
 
It does work, as per my previous posts, you need to wait for the 2nd update to happen. Once done, DStv now will be fully functional. My 2nd update happened after a couple of hours after the 1st.

i don't know if i am just being impatient but i am not getting the second update. is there anything i can do from my side?
 
If everyone posts more info maybe we can figure out why some work and others don't. For example:
