Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Lit recognizes my drive when plugged in,but wont show up then

Have the same problem. Have a 1.5Tb drive. It used to work fine before the update. Now it does not work. The box picks up that a drive has been added, but when using ES, I cannot browse the contents of the drive

B05 here - nothing yet (as expected)

Updated itself yesterday.

Thank goodness for this thread 'cos I knew, more or less, what to expect.

I wasn't around when the update notice popped, so was called to be told

MiL: "DSTV isn't working, the TV is just flashing"
Me: "How long for"
MiL: "No idea"

- Switch off, switch on - Update 1 completes
- Enter credentials, of course DSTV app doesn't work (doesn't help that the 'sample' screenshot on the DSTV app has a code that doesn't of course work <----- the source of much confusion in the thread here)
- Pull plug, startup again, 3rd blue light blinking; check on Router, yep, it's d/l'ing something
- Wait until I can see that nothing's coming down any longer
- restart Lit - wait......DSTV App (pending install) <---- does nothing; cancel, re-initiate update ------> voila, starts updating - new code pops up, over to DSTV website and......tada,

All working

Looks great; works well

What a crap upgrade process though.

Agree, process is a bit iffy, if it was better, we might have had less bricked, devices, but Nology, are happy with the percentage, so yeah ...

Alls well, that ends well, so they say, and Nology say that they have managed to recover the ones that did not survive the update process in user hands ...

Kodi picks up my external 1tb drive but it doesnt open.

I get an error that says path not found when i click on the drive.

I can only play videos thru vlc.

Anyone else have this?

Yeah Kodi can't read NTFS drives on Android 8. Try Archos, works with my NTF.

Hi guys. I have the A07 with updates. Does anybody know what is supposed to happen when clicking the lit icon on the home screen? Mine just seems to access Wi-Fi and stays like that? Any answers?

Wait what? Lol

Mine was like this

Update 1: pop up, Install or later
Choose install
Update runs
Restarts
Do setup

Update 2 pops up, install or later
Choose install
Update runs
Restarts
Do setup again

Unless your boxes are set to auto update the OS, it shouldnt have upgraded the box without you choosing to install.

According to the Showmax website, Android phones and tablets which support Widevine Classic allow you to store downloaded content on the device so that you can view it later. Can someone confirm if it is possible with the LIT box, i.e. download content using night time data and watch it during the day?

Secondly, is the SD card or Usb hard drive accessible over the network so that you can copy files to it?

Netflix is no good on my B05 box after the updates. It plays for a couple of minutes then stops with an error message - something about it being unable to play that particular content at that time, should try later. Any clues for a fix?
That's a Netflix issue.

It's happened occasionally on every device I've used at one point or another

Yea as a percentage, bricked devices are tiny. I think people under estimate the number of units actually out in the field.

I don't think that does anything, yet. There was a plan for it originally a number of months ago but that was scrapped.

Anyone know if there are apps running in background and how to kill them with this new launcher ??

@Dolby do you know if they plan on fixing the NTFS issue, the Skyworth and Xiaomi boxes both had that issue but it was promptly fixed.

I'll try find out.

Sorry, this thread moves too fast :)

Is it an issue with HDDs and the file system?
Nothing to do with size or how they're powered (2.5 or 3.5)?
FlashDrives an issue?

It looks to be the exact issue the other boxes had with NTFS, some apps can't read them but if you use something like Archos and VLC that presumably have their own NTFS drivers it works fine but Kodi, for example, can't.

If you have the same drive and format it FAT32 it should work but then you get the 4GB file size limit.

Will see what I can get.

So the others boxes couldn't at one point, and now they can?
And the LIT could, but now it can't? ;)
The Mi Box had the same thing when it updated to Oreo, I assume they changed how permissions/ownership work with Oreo.

Only app that picks up my drive is Archos. Even VLC Doesnt detect. Ive had to move my music to the internal storage for now to play it.

Also, there is rumour, that there is a new remote with a NetFlix button, I would also appreciate it, if it had a microphone as well, like the Mi Box remote. If it has, I will probably buy 2 of them.
