Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

That's what I was thinking is happening in his pic?

Nah ... it's not :(

They're either static RGB or they go to the sound (I'm just messing around in the photo - I don't really have colours on when watching, or even that bright)

I want it where the lights sync up with the playback.

Oh that's a different story - I don't know much about that.

I know the technical guys at work bought something where they could do that - I think the HDMI plugs into this controller or something. I'm unsure how a Smart TV would work though, as everything is done internally

It's usually with an external player, I think you can do it with an Android TV and the Hue lights but then there are also kits you can buy where it has a camera or a sensor that goes in front of the TV that then sync that with an LED strip.

From the below, it seems you have to 'hack' or 'root' the TV to get the pixel information and send the information to the RGB LED strip. Far too higher grade for me though

As a smartphone-user who is familiar with rooting and installing custom software, I thought of the idea, that there MUST be some “rooting” method for a TV, to gain access to the TV’s pixel data and to send that somehow to a LED-strip. Luckily, there actually is something like that, well… kind of.

Google drive addon with kodi works pretty nice. Having a 200Mbps fibre line you can stream uncompressed 4k video straight from you google drive and with google drive enterprise you get unlimited storage too. Very nice.

Well not exactly uncompressed 4K but yes, 4K remux. Uncompressed 4K is over 10Gbps.

My A06 model is working well , only problem is the remote, it eats batteries, I have to replace it almost every week! I want to configure my Logitech harmony remote to work the Lit Box but I am not able to , I use Telkom as manufacturer and TVB-100 as model but the Logitech picks it up as a media centre pc and the remote does not learn infrared commands except the power on/off , what am I doing wrong?

Not sure about the Logitech remote. However i have a One 4 All remote i bought at Makro R230. Not many buttons to program so was easy enough to teach it the buttons for the Lit remote. As a side, it even works on for DSTV and my TV

I need a 3rd lit, are they still available?
Well, the current Telkom monthly "special" includes a lit box. One would assume that there should be stock somewhere, else the takers of this special may be a bit peeved.
