Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi Guys, recently moved our tv/telkom lit box to the bottom room, about 5 steps away from where it used to be. Now it the box seems to lose wifi signal every 30min? Thinking of getting a wifi extender however its not that far, my mi box which is further away still gets signal and it only loses after 30min? maybe the box getting old???

Where you LIT box was previously, I would expect that it was protected, or out of the interference that is currently killing the wi-fi.

Something that activates periodically is killing your wi'fi, is my take. Previously it was out of range, or some obstacle was blocking this from happening previously.

My take on your issue, doudt the box is getting "old".

True, how far away is the microwave?
 
Are lit boxes still on the market OR what's the next best thing? The mi box is crap, I have one.

Have not seen that they have been discontinued, but they only available from Telkom Stores. Which should reopen Monday. Give a try. No complaints about my Mi-Box nor my LIT box happy with both.

Telkom Stores should have it. Otherwise you can get an Ematic which is manufactured by the same company who manufactures the LIT Box

Thanks. For the most part the Mi box is ok... but doesnt have lab port and its far from the wifi router. Had to get a bigger router (or buy extender) and I use an airmouse on the boxes and that means shortage of USB slots if inhave a movie etc I want to play off it...

It plays ok but that's it really.
I have a LIT in the lounge and it's the best. So will move the mi box tonthe kids room and add another lit to the main bedroom

You get USB network port, with 3 port USB hub, on Takealot paid about R280.00 for mine, when needed, works very well.
 
I seem to be having trouble getting netflix to work on this.
If I download it from the store,it says device is incompatible with this device.

If I side load from netflix website, the audio starts playing but i get an error code saying its unable to reach netflix servers at the moment,then the app force closes.

Any ideas?

The device been updated to Android 8?

When I use the updater from Android menu it says System is up to date

When I attempt the OTA update from the launcher
It goes into "checking please wait..." for 2-3 minutes after which it fails to update with the message -
"Check failed!Check your OTA Service Argent"

Contact Nology, they will help you update it. When updated, NetFlix will already be installed and will need just your login details to get you up and running.

Okay cool, sent them an email now.
Hopefully they can assist

Edit: would it matter if I'm connected via wifi only? I factory reset the device when I got it so its not that,or at least don't think so

Should not be an issue, my LIT box is wired, the Mi-Box not, and thet are similar spec devices, simply because the LIT box stays 2 meters from my router.
