Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Updated OS to Android Pie almost a gig update file to download and install works perfect afterwards

I just had an audio drop out issue, on YouTube and DSTV, otherwise works well, just to figure out how to not have it sit in standby mode, just a wim, but yeah, happy with it.

Hi all.

My box just always worked. Even watched Netflix this morn now it does not even power on.

I switched it on just now and it came on. Then selected Netflix but just got a blank screen and that is all folks. Just dead after that. All LEDs remain red. Reacts to remote but does not power on. Even power button has no effect. ???

Not sure how to see model number but think it is B05 (SDTVB1B050*****)

Any suggestions? Newer activated any update or did anything other than streaming

OK

So my internal storage crashed. It is literally a brick now and cannot be saved.

Official analysis from Nology

They punted the Ematic AGT419 as replacement

Anybody have any feedback on this box.

Where do I find the firmware to download on to a USB stick and resinstall the box?
I somehow have messed it up and it now keeps on rebooting, even after resetting it to the factory defaults.

Also if someone can show me a user guide, it would be great on how to do this?

You can't get the FW ... but try contact @Nology

You cannot get the firmware for this thing?
So what happens then if you don't get hold of the manufacturer?

Nology isn't the manufacturer - they're the distributor.

They'll have the FW, but due to Netflix electronic serial numbers etc, they won't release the firmware. If, however, you get the box to them either by visiting Centurion or courier, they'll more than likely help you

So I got my update notification, I use a All4One remote which i manually programmed to interface with the box.

Think i will have issues with the remote if i do the update?

I use my One4All after update.

From what I've read here, it's the newer LITs that had their IR drivers removed because they came with BT remotes.

It would seem LIT models A11 and older still function with IR remotes, both of mine do anyway after update.

I would check your model first.

I just started using Restricted Profile on my Mibox - is there anyway to activate this on the LIT Box? The option is missing in the menu under security settings :(

How did you go about setting your One4All remote against the LIT Box? I tried but couldn't find a code and the learn function also for some odd reason doesn't pick up any of the buttons.

I have the Streamer Remote that is a simultaneous 3 device remote. So for the TV and SoundBar, you enter the code. For the LIT, I "learnt" those button presses from the original LIT IR remote as I also couldn't find a matching remote. I only learnt the direction buttons, ok, back and home as it was all that is needed. Works great!

I think my remote is Bluetooth. The power button gets programmed, but the other buttons it doesn't pick up

I also programmed my One4All manually. Find it quite handy, control DSTV, TV, and Lit box from one remote. The one issue is if you hold a button on the original remote, e.g. left or right, it will continuously fire that command, useful to ff or rw. The One4All doesnt handle that well, you have to repeatedly press that button.

Hey All

AS someone who has had the LIT box brick on them after the first update a long while ago and having to fight with hellkom for 39 days to get a replacement.
Can i safely say that if i am using my box for ONLY Kodi this update offers NOTHING of value?

Thanks for any comments/replies :)

What are you using for a remote on your phone?

It no longer freezes after coming out of sleep. Before the update, I had to set mine to power down (instead of going to sleep), otherwise it gave various problems when resuming.

The latest update does not even have a power-off option, but fortunately Sleep mode works ok.

In addition, the CEC remote from my older TV works for the first time ever. Otoh, the infrared sensor no longer responds. If you are using a remote that "learned" the IR signals from the LIT's remote, then this may not work for you after the update, depending on your LIT model number.

So, what is the next best to the LIT without breaking the bank.
I bought a Mi box S which is sort of OK but very limited
I have seen others for 2k but also don't seem as crammed as the lit with optic out, 2 usb ports +, lan port etc
