Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi guys. Can you help me to update my old Telkom Lit box(TVB-100)?
It is stuck on 7.2.3 and does not want to online update itself.
Appreciated.
 
@desraid I totally agree with @elf_lord_ZC5 since I had the same issues with a LiT box I bought here on myBB.

My mom used it for a year then Showmax started not having sound (resolved later) but I replaced with a Mi box. Not wanting to ditch the LiT Box I was most generously helped by @KillaByte who helped me upgrade all the way up to the newest firmware.

Nology has some of the most incredible after sales support there is. 5 star service.
 
I'm leaving my Lit box on Oreo (8.0).

I prefer the shutdown option, custom launcher (can change on 9.0 with 2 apps) and no special audio and video requirements (2 channel and SD video, currently).

I have a Mi box on 9.x and don't see any real advantage/reason for me to change.
I guess the only reason to upgrade is for audio/video needs and to be on the latest available Android TV version?

I thought the litbox was on 7.2.3 and can go o 8.0 with an update from Nology. Where do you get a 9.x update for the litbox?
 
Looks like I won't get this android 9 update anyway.

Unfortunately your A06 device is end of life and does not support Android 9 or future releases.
It is currently on the latest approved version 8.2.39.

I have the A07 that is on Android 9. Last week I purchased the Mediabox. It is significantly faster than the lit box.

Thank you good to know.

For now, the litbox is in the braai room, which only have 1080p tv and projector, and for that the litbox is fine.

It's in the house with the 4k TV where the litbox was too slow so we use the TVs android. It however has its own set of problems which I will make another plan with. Hoping for an android box using the latest androidtv which will guarantee support for the AV1 video codec. Think it is version 10 on AndroidTV. Not even the nvidia shield supports it yet. Isn't the AV1 codec a hardware thing ?
Meaning nothing out currently will have it ?

Regarding the A06, it was the very, very first iteration of the LIT and it has slightly different hardware to the rest of the LIT models

If I recall, no Bluetooth and only WiFi 2.4Ghz

Yeah it will require hardware released after March 2021 to qualify for AndroidTV/GoogleTV certification.

Yeah I was unlucky and got A06 when A07 was already being sold. Ohwell.
