Hey,
So I have a 200gb LTE-A package being paid month to month and being used on only lte, and I want to upgrade to uncapped...
There's something I need to ask:
Regarding "50GB Fair Usage Policy (FUP) Cap for bandwidth intensive protocols and applications"

I know torrents are definitely one, unless using something like put.io or a vpn. But what about something like steam, for example I have a game that is 80gb,will that result in steam being shaped to a lower speed? Will it result in my entire connection loosing speed? And finally how long does the shape last before there is a new 50gb?
And also do any of you know the speeds that you get while shaped?
And for the steam thing mentioned above... Does the same apply to like YouTube or Netflix?
Thanks so much for any and all replies

This is what i got from the Telkom Website.

"Uncapped wireless broadband is really uncapped for almost all applications and uses. These include email, browsing, streaming traffic like video, music, YouTube, AppleTV, Box Office, Netflix, VPN, VOIP, real time online gaming, backups and gaming downloads.

For these you will never be capped and throttled. This means consumers will enjoy the full benefit of a truly unlimited experience with Telkom's LTE Uncapped service. Telkom's 50GB fair usage policy cap ONLY applies to Bit Torrent traffic via peer to peer and news servers protocols (NNTP).

Customers will enjoy full speeds on the 50GB FUP bundle between 12am – 6pm and will only be throttled on the speeds between 6pm – 12am which is Telkom's peak period on the network. Full connection speeds will be maintained during peak periods for general browsing, online gaming and video streaming and the customer experience will not be affected.

The speed throttling of peer-to-peer traffic has been effected to ensure that Telkom maintains a good user experience for all users on the base station and that Telkom’s network performance during peak network periods is not compromised. A 10GB FUP applies to the uncapped Wi-Fi bundle and subscribers will be required to link a secondary mobile device to their account via their My Telkom Mobile account as the Wi-Fi bundle can only be consumed at Telkom mobile’s public Wi-Fi hotspots. Acceptable Use Policy applies to abuse of service."

There have been plenty forums which explain this.

You only get throttled when you reach your cap of 50GB and use bandwidth intensive protocols during peak times.

So in other words you have reached your cap, you still want to download torrents, so you will get full speed between 12am to 6pm.

I have tested it where my stuff often downloads during the day when I am at work, but at night the torrents are at crawling speed.

Easy answer, only torrents get shaped after 50gb, this lasts a month. Speeds on torrents get reduced to 120kps, Rest stays the same.

Thanks guys, much help.
Now just to wait for a spot to open, hope people bugger off to ADSL or fibre.=)
