Telkom regularly refreshing sim data

Hi

Does anyone else also get the "refreshing sim data" notification where the sim disconnects from the network while refreshing, especially when your browsing or doing something else?
 
I get them every time no matter on what the phone is, even when I'm connected to a different WiFi network.
 
I see this message quite frequently, especially when I'm driving or on the Gautrain. I think it is when it switches to and from roaming, even though it's supposed to be seamless.
 
Guys with this problem could try the following:
Dial *180# choose the # option. Choose 'manage Telkom SA-R.
Disable roaming.
This will limit your sim card to Telkom towers only.
If you do need to roam, leave it as is.
 
It's definitely the switching between or attempting to switch from telkom-R to telkom and vice versa. It also appears to be Samsung specific.

3 Telkom sims between myself, wife and kid. Mine's on roaming (contract), theirs are not (prepaid).

Have never seen this issue in 5 years of using Telkom.

We've had a sim in a Samsung Tablet for 2 years - also no issues.
