Let me give you some help after doing a whole lot of work working this one out. Make a self install option, like enable the respective broadband package on the line and then let the customer pickup some instructions at the local Telscum office and there you are problem solved.

We don't have our own "cows" to have cheap broadband, because local hosting is so expensive that we dont have tons and tons of local content/servers...
Can we please have the following polls (if not already conducted in the past) and release them to the media?

yes they are racist, and should be fined as that is unconstitutional behaviour, discrimination on the grounds of race.
also, even if you cant compare us to US, you can definitely compare us to India, and all other 3rd world countries that have cheaper prices than us.
geez telkom really needs to fire everyone, and get new people, who either know how to lie, cheat and steal better, or that really want the consumers to be happy..

Why can't you compare telecomunications in the US with those in SA? Telscum actually answered this with the following rediculous quote in the article:

If I charge you R1 million pm for a internet connection, it is likely that there will be only 1 person who really needs it that badly to pay that price. This is economics. As the price goes down then the service becomes more available to more people. Then yes you cannot compare SA to US, because we dont have competition, they have, and if we get competition it won't be healthy at all. Look at Cell C. We also have high Cell rates in SA.
Who do they try to bluff!!!

The slight decrease is infact pretty big, especially when compared to the small increase on line rental. Unless you are on 192kb, but even then it just outweighs the increase. But line speed is nice..
Well you are goign against RPM right htere in the begining.. that is what he did (factoringin installation) to get his figures on ADSL reductions. I also think the installation fees shouldnt be regarded in his calculations.

I laugh at the 150 000 ADSL customers. This is very little compared to the number of internet users out there.
PS: Our telecommunication network crap is limiting the growth of the economy. Imagine how you can bring the rural areas to life with internet, but yet, if you sell a wood carved giraffe for R10 and telscum charge you R362 for internet, there is no way you can join the mainstream business community. Imagine the jobs we can create with local free internet access as it is in other coutries.
Why don't ebay type of websites work in SA? - ask telkom they have the answer.
