Telkom uncapped ADSL explained in detail

We know it's a few years late... but better late than never i suppose.
Honestly, until Telkom offer's a discount when you rent your line and get your ADSL account through then, i don't see myself moving to them anytime soon. And what's up with the "daytime restrictions" :( that's a total turn-off.

Someone should have told the gentleman in the picture that the pic will be used on MyBB forum and not a porno site :D, probably he thought he was posing for Hustler

Steven White, Telkom executive for consumer and retail business

Telkom launching uncapped!! Yet another omen that the world is going to end next year

Can anyone give out more info on the rAge promo? They not elaborating on it that much and that’s a barging if you going.

Doesn't seem particularly amazing to me.

The thought of paying close to 700 bucks a month for a 1 meg line that only gives you the actual line speed for a couple of hours at night and is less than half speed during the day, is just silly.

White reiterated this point, but added that during Telkom’s data usage trial where they temporarily increased the caps on all of their accounts they found that customers used more data.

Noooo way...give that man a Bells!

Their market research showed that users need more data and a higher quality connection, White said.

Omg - they need market research to tell them that!!

Shame man, the poor guy. He was already nervous about the pic. I'll see if I can find something a little more flattering :P

Found out some info on the rAge Promo, got the following off xboxgaming.co.za
In addition to the above packages, Telkom also revealed the Battlefield 3 Uncapped Bundle, a time-limited promotion created specifically for gamers at Rage Expo 2011, and of course, Battlefield 3 fans.

The gaming bundle includes a free copy of Battlefield 3 on PC - no choice of a console version, unfortunately - a free 2TB external hard drive, a Up to 4Mbps ADSL line (R413) and a Up to 1Mbps uncapped account (R369) for R782 per month, or R369 for those already with a line. Be aware though, it is a 12 month contract.
You can also apply for the special if you not at rAge by going here but looks like luck!

Personaly I dont think that 12 month contract is worth a 2TB drive and a game!

I agree, this is just another kick in the nuts from Telkom.

At least its a promotion they're allowing ppl not at rAge to take part in though.

384k throttled to 256k. WTF?!? Shaping is bad enough but straight throttling?

10PM to 6AM: Up to 384kbps – No restriction on local traffic
Wat?

At the very least the could make local unrestricted 24/7...which its supposed to be anyway since they aren't allowed to cap it. Though its not entirely clear what "restricted" implies.

Seems kinda harsh...BUT if the shaping is very chilled then it could still be a good deal.

Best use for this I think is for large scale local sharing. Like DC hubs or local torrents...somehow I think Telkom will be fine with that.

Also, RIP SAIX NS.

My sentiments exactly.

Mweb is R588.....

What possible incentive is there to choose Telkom over Mweb?
