Telkom VDSL MSAN roll-out update

Registered as interested even though I'm not.

Hoping they'll update the local MSAN & backhaul to reduce the current congestion.
 
The register for interest is really in a back-corner of their website. I'm sure they would get a much bigger response if it were on the front page of their home and business websites.

No **** sherlock .. Telkom can't even enable the Slightly-Fast broadband option in my area. 2mbps 'till I die!!!
 
They seem to be putting a hell of a lot of MSAN units up, but not activating them. Perhaps there is an activation date when they will make the numbers jump a lot.

There are about 4 sites where I live about to have boxes installed. When can I expect activation? I'm confused. I want to give you more money, Telkom!
 
I wonder how up-to-date that map is? I'm sure DrJohnZ stays in an area of Table View they say are not covered?
 
Yay! Your area is enabled with Telkom's Super-Fast Broadband network.
Your DSL "up to 20 Mbps" or "up to 40 Mbps" order can be placed with your ISP.

Whoop! Just wish there were some good cheap packages out there. Right now it's priced outside of my budget so I'll have to wait till prices come down and be happy with my 10mbps line for now.
 
All I can say is, don't trust that online Telkom speed checker tool. It says my maximum speed I can get is 4mbps yet I'm currently synced at 14mbps. So they've got some updating to do there I think :)

How did you get 14mbps? Max is 10mbps on ADSL??

I think the map is just an estimation.

Here is the map of my area, I live within that middle block and have VDSL however my office is also in that middle block and I've been told we won't be getting VDSL. You've just got to be persistent with them and see if it pays off.

Lmao my street is in a green zone (St Andrews Ave, Senderwood) but when I click process DSL for this address it says "We are currently unable to process your request any further" :( But I know (99% sure ) that the street above us (Kipling Ave) has 20mbps (came up in the list of areas in a article on MSAN upgrades) :D so fingers crossed :D

Anyone else live in the St Andrews Ave, Kipling Ave area and knows anything about this?

VDSL has already been rolled out in my area apparently so I'm on the Afrihost 20mbps VDSL package, but I guess I'm not close enough to get my full 20mbps.
 
If you zoom out of the map, the current roll-out is pathetically small. Obviously not very high roll out targets for Telkom then?
