Contract? Only way it's on contract is if you got a modem included for free. Otherwise don't worry XD

They'll just keep the 3GB on your statement/phone acount until you cancel it, so if you don't want it to appear on next month's statement, cancel it. (but you'll still be paying for this month)

started up my 3gb account this morning at 5.9 gb....decided to test: pulled item x - size 400mb....got to 300mb then the account disconnected , reconnected - bang - "capped".

so 6.210gb for me

Yeah got the modem for free...

And wats a even bigger blow is the new way the collect stats :(

So now 3gig is 3gig... no more

Now im on 1gb from WebAfrica to last me the rest of the month.
 
Capped: 5.9247GB according to Tracker.. but will probably be like just just over 6GB once its updated.

SAIX says 5.2GB

Capped at 5.978GB

Does this new policy coincide with reduced charges of the do packages? Seems like they reduced the cap to compensate for the lower charges. I guess this is what they actually meant when they said:

“It is important to note that no collective threshold is applicable to 1 GB accounts. Should a customer have a 2 or 3 GB account and consume the initial subscription of 2 or 3 GB prior to month-end, they will then have access to a collective threshold which will keep them online and unaffected.”

Telkom said that the collective threshold will be shared as evenly as possible and is intended to keep as many subscribers online for as long as possible. This however has a limit and will vary from month to month according to demands from customers.

“Once a subscriber exceeds their service threshold of 2 or 3 GB and that of the collective threshold of that month (say (2+1) 3 GB in total) they will fall into a restrictive access category.”

It seems telkom is even forcing a disconnect / reconnect now. They used to only check cap usage once you reconnected by yourself or every 24hrs.

I noticed that too. I was disconnected and reconnected at around 00:12 this morning. I was nooooot impressed. Was doing a download I couldn't resume. Ah, but of course, more money for Telkom.
 
Well my 2gb accounts were capped as follows:

Account #1 - 2.5gb
Account #2 - 3.5gb

I tried again but the are still capped from the beginning of the month

Suit yourself. You have not been capped at 2Gb unless you are using a <user>@telkomsa.net account. That I can assure you. if you have a dsl.2gbsh.telkomsa.net account, then you will be capped at 4Gb. That is what I am seeing on other accounts and I am sure yours would be no different.

On my 3Gb they cut me the weekend on 5.5 GB (last month 11gb). I think if they are so stressed about people abusing, they should allow people that dont use up their GB's to carry it over to the next month.

Update: I received a mail sayinng that I have been a bad boy etc, for some reason my account is open again. Not sure why, but also not complaining.

2x 3GB accounts capped @ 6.5GB, was disconnected while still online

Uhmmmm so the system isn't automated, YOU have to cap people manually?

Anyway I'm on a 1Gig account from Telkom and the SASA utility isn't authenticating so I can't even check my usage...bah
