Is the speed supposed to be around 15KB/s when you're throttled? I can barely open webpages anymore.
 
Melkbosstrand exchange is having some serious issues it seems, 4 clients there and 1200+ms pings......... TelkomZA any feedback?
 
Hi - just had my 4mb ADSL services relocated from Hout Bay to Plumstead. The technician came to the new house to install today, as he's leaving he casually mentions that the best speed I can get in Plumstead is 1mb? Surely this can't be right? As I am a web developer that uses Skype for clients I needd my 4mb back :( Please help.

Live in Plumstead, he is talking absolute nonsense. Unless you are at the furthest possible distance from the exchange, you really should not have a problem like that...

That's what I thought, yet the router is syncing at 1mb. Been on hold with Telkom 10210 for literally over an hour - being transferred between departments - now I'm told the new number I was assigned is suspended, even though I call and it rings. Nightmare.
 
Special thanks to @TelkomZA for all the assistance over the past few weeks. Telkom finally managed to sort out our issues on Friday.

What a joke - Telkom has been screwing around with my DSL line for the last week and latest news is that the line will be down for "maintenance" till at least 16th June - ref 196CRK100615. Call centre agent had the cheek to say "You know, it's like loadshedding on your telephone line".

Having Telkom fun as well...... on hold at the moment with them 25mins in
 
Would just like to thank TelkomZA for his kind assistance. Sent him a PM late last night and my problem has already been resolved!
 
got an email this morning to say i can upgrade from my current 4mb line to do premium which includes adsl up to 10mb
phoned the call centre only to be told i cant upgrade because my areas only supports 4mb.

whats the use of sending your clients emails to upgrade and then when we take you up on it we cant ???
 
Having major issues with my line since moving to Blairgowrie. First they moved me over to a new exchange. The day after the transfer happened, I had no service. tech came in, resolved the matter, down again less than week afterwards. I have voice but no connectivity. Logged a fault, no response.

Changed modems, nothing

Reset modems, nothing.
