TelkomZA

If only we were all this lucky... haha.
Congestion erupted overnight (seriously, was fine one day and since then, like 2 weeks ago, really bad at night) and TelkomZA was nice enough to report it for me, and this morning a Telkom technician phones me and said I should be patient and wait it out (until it gets upgraded one day).
Well yeah it depends on the situation. If you are an exchange where the back-haul is being maxxed out, its not just a simple policy change to fix it, they actually need to lay in more fibre and that can take a while.

Yeah probably. And since there's been cable theft (replaced now) that probably didn't help either.

some time in the day ping goes to 380ms to 490ms :(

Had some rain over the weekend so time to bug TelkomZA / GH again :D.

Good to hear many are getting things resolved. In time i am positive we will see larger assistance on the forum (am guessing so don't quote me on that unless i am right ;-) ).

You have exposed copper somewhere along the line which can be a biatch to locate.

Sent PM earlier with more detail...

I "upgraded" to "do Advanced" (20GB cap with 4/10Mbps Line) and, according to http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ , my exchange supposedly supports 10Mbps however I only achieve about 3.5Mbps. Would like to know why I seem locked in to 4Mbps and what to do to “unlock” the higher speeds?

What's your line stats? Could be that you're just too far from the exchange to get higher speeds.

Thanks - will check tonight when I get home - AFAIK I have a Telkom Mega 100WR modem/router...

Will the ping and tracert commands in post #250 also give usefull info?

Thanks ponder, i don't know if they sent a tech out to check the manhole but the line is super clear as of Wednesday morning so again, a real quick resolution in solving a line issue :). The line before was virtually unusable (even dsl upload was showing 66Kbps under the stats page lol but no disconnects however download speed was up and down).

Thanks again TelkomZA

Hi,

I have major problems with the constantia park exchange (TCAP).

http://i.imgur.com/nmjH354.png

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2874966185

This is on a 4mbps line.

This fault was logged ages ago then closed as it was apparently repaired.
I have since escalated the fault and heard nothing back.
I have also sent twitter messages with speedtests and tracert's starting last week Thursday, no feedback other than still attending to fault.

Can someone give me an ETA or something please?
This will be the last month that I try resolving this matter. Telkom is forcing me to walk the Wireless ISP route... What a shame...

Edit: Imgur link with better quality screen shot
