My dsg is like a manual so I keep my 3 second following distance, slow down to 60 approaching robots using engine braking then if yellow light hits then come to a slow stop mainly with engine braking and use the brakes at the end. I never need to brake harshly when you anticipate traffic flow. Pisses people off behind me though which gives me a sick little pleasure when I have a huge gap in front while approaching robots trying to time it that I just catch up with the traffic without stopping. What is the fuel economy like on the CX-5?
It’s easy to look after brake pads and the clutch, just don't drive like a knob racing between traffic lights/stops, easy does it and go with flow of traffic.
That being said my time with manuals is over, it’s just that much easier to do the above with an auto, especially in traffic.
