Rules driving a manual:
1. Dont rest your foot on the clutch.
2. Don't rest your hand on the gear stick.
3. Put it in neutral at robot and take foot off pedal.
4. Don't ride the clutch on a hill waiting for the light to change.

It will last forever.

My brake pads also last forever but thats a story for another time.

Yep
I still have Uno and mileage is currently sitting on 451 000km.

Just did some maintenance (clutch kit, front suspension work etc) then will be pushing it to 500 000km.

In 2025 it spend most of its days lazing around but in 2026 i will drive it more.

How is Palio and Nissan 1400 treating you?

Wow thats incredible, that Uno is a legend.

Palio was sold probably 10+ years ago and i ended up selling the 1400 to my old during the first lock down for him as a work bakkie and he has also since sold it on.

Ive had about 10+ cars/bikes since then LOL, i get bored and trade/swop them fairly often, current daily is an 02 Daihatsu Cuore auto with just over 120k on the clock, got it a few months ago, done about 3000km with it, nothing special, very boring and extremely slow but it gets me from a to b and it was cheap, but looking at doing a bit of a JDM build with an itasha/anime wrap and full sound install.

Then the wife is driving a 2014 Ford Figo TDCI with just under 200k in the clock, lovely little car and super light on diesel, will probably keep that one long term.

Then my real pride and joy is my custom built 2014 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster, always getting extras added on and custom bits and bobs.

I have only added 1 car to my fleet for the wife- Mazda CX-5 2L auto. Must be honest

I have only heard only good things about those Figo TDCI and yes they sip fuel.

All they need is OCD oil changes and they go ON forever with no drama.

100%, its actually due now for its annual oil change. Its out of warentee now so going forward i will do the oil changes myself.

Yip - it looks & feels like it's just been driven off the showroom floor - and having black leather seats (a unicorn OEM option) is an added bonus as well... ;)

Got a 2017 2L auto for white and it is currently on 137 000km.

Got it at 46 000km in 2020 and it has a trouble free motoring experience.

I would buy another 1 for peace of mind motoring.

It’s easy to look after brake pads and the clutch, just don't drive like a knob racing between traffic lights/stops, easy does it and go with flow of traffic.
That being said my time with manuals is over, it’s just that much easier to do the above with an auto, especially in traffic.

Dude, an 80kW TDi engine that does 0-100 in 13 seconds is not magically going to do 0-100km/h in 7s with a stage 2. You might get 0-100km/h in 11-12 seconds. That's still slower than a Citi Golf. It's Jimny territory.
