Also very important that when on a caloric deficit it's essential to eat enough protein to maintain your muscle mass, otherwise your metabolism slows down even more and you burn less calories.

Always cut calories from carb and fat intake first.
True protein is important but you cannot maintain muscle mass by eating protein you have to generate it physically with weight training.
If you don't use it you lose it, regardless of how much protein you have, and then you still lose it.

I disagree.
You can go on a biscuit only diet and still lose or indulge in eggs, meat fish an nuts and gain.
It's mostly about creating a calorie deficit.
Unless you want to be healthy - that's the only reason to diet.

Yes it's essential to do resistance training to maintain optimal muscle mass when restricting calories.

But even with endurance exercises like cycling and jogging and no resistance type exercises, if you are on a severely calorie restricted low protein diet you will lose muscle at a much faster rate than someone who is consuming enough protein.

Your body does not store protein like it can store fat and carbohydrates. You need a certain amount of protein to supply your body's daily protein synthesis needs or it will break down your muscle to get the amino acids it needs.

This is quite well documented in studies now, but of course does not imply that guys with very high muscle mass from weight training can just eat lots of protein to keep their gains if they stop training.

So three weeks in at around 1200 - 1300 calories a day and I've lost 800grams! I mean common universe be lekker! Lost ZERO this week and I have more than enough that needs to GTFO! So my question to anyone that has started off with calorie counting as the weight loss option, is this frikken normal??
So last week I cut out the cereals for breakfast, as I had a feeling it could have been the milk and I was right, so it seems that in my case, milk is the issue. I lost 400 grams by changing that. My goal every week is to lose around 500 grams, so i'm happy with the result. Let's see what this week brings :)

I prefer daily weight check so it's easier to gauge what is working and what isnt working and then adjust on a day to day basis.
Its also more disapointing when the weekly check doesn't generate results.
Over 40 your metabolism drops alarmingly so exercise becomes more of a priority.
I will give that a try this week, thank you :)

I got so tired of trying various methods to loose weight. I rather decided to accept my body shape for what it is. I am 188 cm and 135kg. In my younger days I played prop for a rugby club and I am built similar to Os du Randt. The biggest problem I have is trying to find clothes to fit my shape. I cant shop at the "off the peg" kind of stores their clothes are just too small. Recently I have found BigOkes and their T-shirts are perfect for me. Anyone have any other suggestion for me other than Jeep or Johnsons workwear?

Eagle clothing is an option although I also dont like their clothing too much.

I really can't weigh myself daily, it fluctuates way too much.
I was 131.2kg last week Sunday (weigh myself every Sunday morning) but just for interests sake, I weighed myself on the Monday and I was 131.9kg.

This Sunday I was 130.5kg which matches my weekly pattern of weight loss...

Almost into the 120's!!! :D

Excellent going. I’ve noted the same. However, I still weigh weekly and record weekly as a means of tracking.

Had a rough week of eating, so my calorie intake was about 1700 per day this week.... Gym was pretty rough, felt weak throughout.
But my Sunday weight this morning was 128.5kg!!! Doesn't seem right, 2kg in a week? Same scale and the rest of the family seem correct.

I guess I'm happy but I also don't think I ate enough for the weight training. I've been trying to get a consistent (healthy) 2500 to 2800 calories per day, so I guess this week hit harder than I thought it would...

Real 128 Kgs, Which kind of food are you taking

I was thinking when you start reaching 100 kgs you get some body alerts

Mostly jungle oats, eggs, skinless chicken, lean mince sometimes... Broccoli, potatoes (white and sweet). Do eat rice quite often, mostly brown.
I do eat carrots but not often.

Also a protein shake, as I'm really battling to get my intake over 150g per day... And even worse when working from the office.

Hardly have any sugar, eat bananas, apples.. Fresh orange juice.

I went over 100kgs when I was 21, full on weight training and eating like a pig haha. Haven't been close since and don't want to go under 105kg in the long run :)

Well, until my muscles start to wither away with age.

I’ve been taking 17mg of T propionate daily. I’m attempting to transition from UGL to prescription. I have an order in for bloodwork from my GP. I was planning to have the blood drawn after 4 days of no injections. I’ve only been using propionate for at least one month. Will 4 days without my regular injection be enough time to reflect low numbers?
Wrong place, start a gear thread.

My cousin is selling this stuff if anyone is interested. She's a health nut and has been using it for years and swears by it, but I asked our dietician and we're not allowed any supplements except what she's prescribed
