The Bafana Bafana Thread

Nice.

Going to two Bafana World Cup games but neither of them are at Soccer City, so this will give me a chance to check out the stadium.

Bafana have another game lined up, 31 May against Guatemala at Polokwane's Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Colombia & Denmark are better ranked than Bulgaria.
However the 3 teams in our group are better ranked than the above-mentioned teams.
Interesting:erm:

I've got a Bafana shirt, but it's quite useless at night in winter, need the scarf and beanie. Would prefer to buy knock-offs from a street vendor than further line FIFA's corrupt pockets.

*practises not being at home when the FIFA death squad arrives*

i got my scarf & beanie from woolies. got my vuvuzela + flag ready at the door. What time you guys gonna leave ? Im thinking like 6pm from the west rand (randpark side). Think it will be enough time ?

Being picked up at around 16h30, but would like to get a few warming whiskeys in me before heading down though.

Yeah the shirts really are made for playing football, not being worn all day. :( I froze my arse off a few weeks back wearing just that shirt and no jersey. Gotta get a bafana jacket before the WC.

not a bad game, but I expected a lot more after the Bulgaria game and with Steven & Benni playing.

Some dodgy calls by the ref though...

lol you expecting Benni to do something? I dunno about you but I'm sure forwards are suppose to trek into the goal area looking to exploit the defence... all I saw was a tub of lard with a man boob brace running outside the penalty area... not once did he attack the goal looking to open up the defence...

haha true...

The inclusion of Benni in my comment was more meant as a joke than anything else. The commentator praised Benni so much before and after he came on you would think he is gods gift to African football.

If you look at previous threads regarding Bafana and Benni, I have repeatedly said he should be dropped from the team along with Mokoena :o a lot of people still believe though that Benni is our great hope.

Just back from the game. Thought we looked a little disjointed in attack, particularly before Pienaar's arrival. The ref looked poor, but can't comment on the penalty decisions as I haven't seen the replays.

Soccer City is an awesome stadium.

agree with the staduim... definately world class and no Ruby patches to screw up the bounce of the ball

that stadium is freaking amazing, the atmosphere is hectic. The game sucked but hey whos there to watch soccer anyway :p

The traffic was a balls up on one of the offramps for us, we eventually just parked on the road and walked about 2km. I felt bad for the people who parked in this huge sandlot near the stadium. When they tried to leave it was just a pile of cars facing all different directions with not a single official directing anybody.

I'm gonna be honest here...I dont know any of the bafana players (except maybe benni and pienaar).

I wanted to start an "official supporters thread" to get to know the rest of the squad...but this thread probably covers this.

Is there any decent site where I can get a good biography on each inidvidual in the squad? And can someone pls list the top and upcoming players to watch out for; and some background on them.

Whether Bafana bails out in the first round or not; I will support them and I think its time I get to know them.

Check the wiki page for Bafana, and it has the whole squad listed. Each player has a page with info on them (infact if someone with international cap could load some info on each player, or make a new thread that would be great).

Great to see people taking and interest in the team.:D
