The Banting/LCHF Thread

Okay I made some now. They are the oven. I used 4 teaspoons of cocoa. I didn't have honey so i used stevia liquid, but i think it may be off. Tastes weird. I added a bit of erythritol too, hopefully to cover the weird taste. Instead of peanut butter, I used macadamia nut butter. I added some cinnamon and vanilla essence too. Hopefully it will be delicious

meh, after 15 mins, they were still so soft plus they had weird taste. I bet you it was that stevia liquid. Putting them in longer.

I started IF last week saturday and I my fat has started to continue again ! Lost 1kg in this last week. Amazing.

Yeah IF for me made a massive difference. I am now doing 24 hour fasts 6 days a week, steady weight loss of about 2.5kg a week. I'm not saying 24 hour is best, its just the way I like doing it. I have a BC at about 6am then i am good to go till supper at about 7pm.

Was doing 18 hour fasts for a month before I moved to 24 hours. The first week I felt a bit light headed but turns out taking some Magnesium and omega in the morning fixed this.

good luck with the diet!

What is a BC and so you eat once a day and it is a supper?

hmmm, does that not break your fast?

That is a tricky question, some say yes some say no....

For fasting purists, consuming a single calorie technically breaks your fast. However, there’s no scientific reason to completely restrict calories to reap the benefits of intermittent fasting, including weight loss.

If you consume fat only, no protein or carbs, during your fast, you won’t interrupt autophagy and you’ll stay in the fat-burning state of ketosis. Fasting (like ketosis) works because it keeps insulin levels low enough to keep your body in a fat-burning state. Fats like butter and coconut oil don’t cause insulin levels to rise. Carbs and protein, however, do require insulin in order to be metabolized

So once again I don't say its good or bad, its just the way that works for me.

Why definitely?

Fasting for weightloss and fasting for autophagy are two different things (though achieved in similar way and can be done at the same time), however under both having a BPC would be breaking your fast as it's a consumption of calories.

I'm not knocking your method/diet by the way. It's definitely a good way to drop fat.

Perfect, I think in the way we are thinking about losing weight with LCHF I think we need not worry about the semantics of true IF. Finding what works for you is really the only true right or wrong thing.

I have done both IF with and without a BC in the morning, nothing changed (as far as loss rate). The coffee just helps me get through my day, if its a placebo or not I'm not sure, but seeing as its not stopping my weight loss I will keep on with it.
