Was in the Bidvest Premier Lounge at OR Tambo yesterday to kill time before flying home. Not much on offer for a diligent low carber I must say. Ended up consuming 4 Cappuccinos and eating a plate of chicken curry with cottage cheese and camembert on the side. I left the potatoes from the curry on my plate. Everything else was just carbs carbs carbs.

Turnip fries came out okay I guess! Peeled them, cut them up, added olive oil, salt and pepper and threw them in the oven. Didn't add parmesan like some recipes suggested, and didn't toss them about to make sure they're cooked evenly cause I'm lazy.

They could've been a bit more crunch and slighltly less soggy... well not soggy but... I dunno. Can't describe it atm. Also they tasted a bit sweet. I could get used to this taste I think... anyhow, they only cost R7 something a bunch, you should try it for yourself at least once :D

They do have a sweetish taste. Sautéed mine in a pan. First in oil and then butter. And thsn another one on just butter. Used different kind of spices, which made no diffs. Not my kind of food.

I use my Nutritech Pure Whey powder to make Greek yoghurt edible. Works like a bomb and I get that extra protein in to hit my nutrient macros.

Currently using banana flavour but choc and choc mint is also nice. Even strawberry.

I drink the meal replacement diet whey ( supershape ) for breakfast, it is low carb but not that low, 9grms a serving but it replaces an entire meal for me.

Hmmm, wife's baking some "banting" rolls for burgers tonight, going to be an interesting taste I think.

how did those rolls go down?

Not bad for a first attempt but they flopped after coming out the oven. It's like a soffle base, egg and sour cream and cream of tartar I think. Definitely had a breadish taste but quite a strong egg one too, like French toast.

oooh i've tried those already ... the oopsie breads or cloud breads those are nice, if you wanna lessen the egg taste try egg whites
only and add some rosemary

btw those burgers look awesome!

Were very tasty, homemade patty with mince and stuffed with pepper dews, mushroom and cheese. Salad filling was lettuce\rocker, tomato and cucumber. Will pass the compliment on to the chef, she's trying all different things for me :D

Also in pretoria east, on the corner of Simon Vermooten and furrow road, next to the woolies, is a tuisnuiwerheid that sells packaged banting meals and breads.
