The Banting/LCHF Thread

Im loosing muscle mass as well, but guessing that's my own fault for not gyming anymore.
Just found that while i was gyming, using Protein shakes, Creatine, Glutamine, BCAA's + a pre workout, i was not loosing weight, my diet was good, but my fat just would not disappear, Please don't preach to me about cardio, its not going to happen, I do weight/strength training, and that's it.
So i made a decision that i'm going to leave gym and focus on loosing weight and when i reach my ideal weight, i'll start gyming again. So far i have been loosing weight, but damn it sucks seeing the parts getting smaller that you don't want smaller :p

carrots are very starchy, check it doesn't affect you

Definitely. Though personally I no longer have weight to lose and I'm therefore not looking to stay in ketosis at all times. So I have a fairly liberal intake of all veg other than potatoes. Most people can do a carrot or two without issue though - they're only 10% carb which isn't a train smash if eaten in a high-fat meal.

Weight training is all you need, even for fat loss.

Actually yes, yesterday I noticed how loose my pants are and my old shirt just fitting better and better, Basically i must just be patient and the weigh-loss will start again?

Your body is changing even when the scale stay the same. My weight didn't change much for 3 weeks but I had to buy a new belt.

As others have said, keep doing what you're doing.

You know, If this was another forum I would have given you the full story, but yes, using certain supps with only weight training definitely made a huge difference in weight-loss and gaining muscle, unfortunately this door has closed for myself.
And Unfortunately using no "supplements", I felt like i was making no progress in losing weight or gaining muscle.

Also when gyming on the banting diet, it feels like allot of my power is gone, maybe its just in my head. Normally one would consume carbs before gyming to get a energy burst, when you consume no carbs there is no energy burst.

Hopefull in 6 months I should be at my ideal weight, I just have to lose 10 more KG's, then I'll start training again, but at 31 its a lot more difficult than 23 :p, last week i tried doing bench presses just for the fun of it, i could barely finish 3 sets of 70kg which is not heavy at all (at least it wasn't a year back)

Sorry, I meant weight training only as opposed to doing cardio as well.

How long did you stop lifting for? Maybe the reason for the loss of strength is that, rather than no carbs. I know guys on /r/ketogains do take something before lifting, not sure what though.

Stopped lifting seriously for about a year now, stopped gyming about 4 months ago.
I do mess around now and again, but nothing like in the past.
You might be right that the lack of strength is rather my absence than the lack carbs, but in all honesty, i'm making excuses and lying to myself. I must stop being lazy and just do it. Think what makes me negative is knowing the amount of time and work I had to put in the past, and how long it took to get there, and even then still being overweight...

Back then I was on a strick diet, eating 6 times per day, slow release carbs in the morning (like oats), protein for lunch, dextrose or fast acting carbs before gyming. Slow release protein before going to bed, fark it was a mission man, and expensive.....

I have been banting for two years and fell off the wagon on my holiday to Spain.

Picked up 4kg's and I can feel it in my clothes, so from this morning I am back to my normal banting diet.

The only problem is that I need a beer in this heat, but I don't want to drink beer in the week, not even Castle Lite.

As per our discussion last night. Loaded cauliflower.

View attachment 185030

1 large head cauliflower
6 -8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
6 tablespoons chopped chives
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups cheddar cheese
8 ounces sliced mushrooms

In a large pot boil water and cook cauliflower for 8-10 minutes, drain and let cool.

In a large bowl combine sour cream, mayonnaise, 1/2 of crumbled bacon, 3 TBS chives, 1 cup cheese, mushrooms and cauliflower, mix well.

Place mixture in baking dish and cover with remaining 1 cup of cheese and bacon.

Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted. Top with remaining chives and serve.

PS: I add garlic and chillies to my fried bacon. Love my garlic and hot/spicy stuff.

Dude. You are a legend! This is farking awesome. That mayo and sour cream combo. The whole family loved it!
