The Banting/LCHF Thread

Getting back onto banting today after falling off the wagon a few months back.

Question regarding alcohol intake:
I generally don't drink very often, but when I do i tend to binge. My favourite drink is Jameson's. I know that most pure spirits like whiskey, vodka etc are allowed. But how much is too much? i.e. Can I have 10 singles in a night and still maintain weight loss?

Additionally, I have stopped skipping breakfast and now normally snack on 2 Woolies breakfast bars in the morning. Is this a good idea?
I would say if you only drink occasionally, like on weekends, that should be ok. But it is my opinion, the purists would probably not agree. I maintained great weight loss and I had a few every weekend, Castle Lite, whiskey, brandy, red wine.

Breakfast bars? I would stay away unless their carb content is <10g in total.

I select upload and immediately the upload begins.

Before it used to first dump the image in the editor and they you choose to crop resize or whatever you wanted to do to it.

I find no option in the settings relating to small medium or original size.

eish.. checked it now.. for each portion, it's 29g of carbs of which 16.4g is sugar.. and I'm having 2 of them every morning. Guess that's out of the question now.

Lindt 85% - R26.90
Lindt 90% - R29.90

This is at Gardens CT Pick n Pay, no idea if it's a national special or not. Also, the sign says "valid until 06/08/2015", but the cashier rung mine up as R26.90 so... :D

Saw a 99% Lindt bar this weekend

bacon and eggs... i know it's tough... but you'll get use to it ;)

Or try supashape diet Whey, vanilla <7g carbs and chocolate 9g carbs. I down a liquefied one every morning ( 2 scoops with about 900ml water ).

It's supposed be a sundae\pudding texture but I find it too thick ( supposed to use about 300ml water ) and am happy drinking it as a shake. Lasts till Lunch.

I've never liked the texture of those shakes. Perhaps I should give it another try though.

so supper last night .. one russian sausage with heaps of salad.
breakfast: tea
lunch:800g of biltong
supper tonight: got some italian sausage defrosting .. and will serve with some veg.

Hopefully I wake up early enough tomorrow to make some bacon and eggs.

So let me get this straight - I must eat fat to lose fat?

/goes off to buy a tub of lard

I would be dying of hunger

I'm under 60kg and even I'd still be hungry on that amount of food :P

I've been reading a bit lately and I've seen it mentioned in several places that lowering your caloric intake too much can be detrimental to losing weight. The figure I see being thrown around is an energy defecit of more than 30%, at around that point (allegedly) your metabolism slows down and your body starts converting muscle into energy.

If that's all you're eating and you aren't feeling hungy then that's great, but if you are getting hungry I'd definitely recommend increasing the portions.
