1x 5.5K Sunsynk
3x US3000B Pylontechs
16x 380W JA Solar panels
1x Grip 7.5kVA genny

If I were you, on a tight budget I'd get a 5.5K Sunsynk, one Hubble AM-2, maybe plan the layout for 3 eventually, and plan for 12-16 panels, but get at least 10-12 for now.
Ouch ok that is a lot of stuff :)

Nope even during the day at most I'd hit 1.7kw an hour at most and it's on a Friday :)
The next question is roof space.

1 x 550W panel = 1637907406034.png

I'm shocked to see how prices have jumped since the last time I looked at Art Solar, it was R4 something/Wp, nor it's R6 something/Wp.

The 70k with the Deyes 5kw + 4x200ah batteries + 9 400w panels is 70k including install
and then in 2 years time you will have to replace those batteries, rather change those batteries to Hubble AM-2. Has the mecer taught you nothing.

Well to be fair my first batteries on the Mecer lasted me 7 years :p sooooooo. I know but to upgrade to the 5.1kw batter is an additional 15k sure there are 3 more panels as well

If you have a generator and trolley forget the battery for now. Get a sunsynk and 5kw of solar and move your geyser onto the inverter with a timer and lower kw element. Then when the sun is up you have power and will save on eskom rates. For the odd loadshedding at night you can run the generator.

I was going to suggest something like this, get what you can now with an eye on the future upgrades to avoid paying twice or paying to replace.

Yes, but we all now know that LA will get wrecked with anything more than stage 1 loadshedding.

He should reduce the number of panels and put that towards a proper battery, he can always add panels later.

Plus I am sure the 4x 200Ah is close to R20K so it won't be a mission impossible.

That's why I only went with 6 panels.

@Lupus factoring in tariff hikes next year (it's going to happen) and continue happening your solar will keep your bill flat, if paid cash you're essentially getting electricity for free, if you finance a portion of it then you'll cut even sooner. My view is I'd rather pay into my bond or finance than give anything more than I have to the clutches of the ANC.
